Job summary

Amrize is pleased to offer a Quality Control and Material Performance Intern position based at our Sloan, NV site for Summer 2027. The role involves hands-on laboratory testing, sampling from production lines and sites, and collaboration with QC and Technical Services teams to optimize aggregate and asphalt products.

The intern will assist in evaluating mix designs, monitoring material performance in the field, and presenting learnings to the executive leadership team at the end of the program.

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Material Science Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory Testing & Sampling: Collect raw material and finished product samples from production lines, quarries, and job sites to perform standardized laboratory testing (e.g., gradation, moisture content, compressive strength, abrasion, and slump testing).
• Material Performance Optimization: Assist quality control managers in evaluating mix designs and material durability, identifying opportunities to enhance product performance, consistency, and sustainability.
• Field & Operations Engagement: Work directly with plant operators, quarry teams, and customer site managers to resolve quality tickets, monitor material performance during placement, and provide technical field support.
• Skill Application: Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals.
• Executive Presentation: At the end of your internship, you'll present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are seeking a Quality Control & Material Performance Intern for Summer 2027 who is passionate about construction materials, material science, and quality assurance. Working alongside our Quality Control (QC) and Technical Services teams, you will play a hands‑on role in evaluating, testing, and optimizing aggregate and asphalt products. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning June 1, 2027.

This internship will be based at our site in Sloan, NV.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

Work Schedule: This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40‑hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8‑hour shift each day.

Work Environment: You’ll be working in various aggregate environments (i.e. quarry, sand/gravel site, surface mine, construction site), where you’ll encounter moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and more.

Transportation: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from their worksites.

Travel: Throughout the internship, you may need to travel to other sites for tours, shadowing experiences, or intern events.
