Job summary

Silgan Plastics Corporation in Kentucky seeks a Quality Control/Line Inspector to support production on beverage closures lines. You will ensure accurate reporting, perform color and testing checks, and conduct hourly quality verifications while maintaining organized spec sheets and clean work areas.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and experience as a back-up QC Inspector or a Packer/Selector, with good reading/writing skills and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must have been qualified back-up QC Inspector or a qualified Packer/Selector if no back-ups are available.
• Must have good attendance, dependable, and good reading and writing skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
• Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare First Piece Reports for each line running.
• Perform ink color checks.
• Carry out all special testing required by procedures.
• Perform hourly quality checks.
• Line audit while collecting hourly samples and in any free time.
• Keep spec sheets organized, filing away old ones and placing new ones correctly.
• Audit blank bottle finished goods lines in Production.
• Daily plant walk-through to identify issues (visual).
• Perform last shot measurement and visual analysis for correct pick lists and labels.
• Participate in new projects and training as required.
• Maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
• Inspect work areas for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures.

• Responsible for auditing any blank bottle finished goods lines in Production.
• Daily plant walk through to identify issues. (visual)
• Perform last shot measurement and visual ANALYSIS ensure that information going out to the production floor is correct. (Pick lists and stickers)
• New Projects-test and measure Customer Focus Training-AVBIS training and New Equipment Usage
• Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
• Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Effectively use verbal and written communications.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Mechanical Aptitude a plus.
