Job description

Position Overview

A Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring that products meet the specified standards by examining shipments of inventory and raw goods, measuring product specifications during each production run, and training production team members to refine quality. The candidate will perform assessment, documentation, and organization tasks to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s supply chain.

Responsibilities

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM

Pay: $18.50 per hour

  • Inspect output samples using industry‑appropriate methods, such as comparing standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality.
  • Ensure that quality testing is always conducted and inspections meet the organizational standards.
  • Check that the production line adheres to standards, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Focus on corrective actions to ensure products meet required specifications.
  • Remove defective products discovered during production.
  • Record inspection results by completing checklists, summarizing re‑works and wastes, and inputting data into the quality database.
  • Work with the Quality Control Supervisor regarding specific information related to product information and production.
  • Report bottlenecks to the Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Train the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence.
  • Propose improvements to the production process.
  • Monitor equipment use to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements.
  • Update job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training.
  • Maintain measurement equipment accurately by following calibration requirements and requesting repairs.
  • Verify all equipment is calibrated correctly.
  • Use gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products.
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data.
  • Determine causes of product defects and reworks.
  • Approve finished products for onward shipment to the market.
  • Encourage and enforce cleanliness among staff and ensure safe working conditions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a related field (preferred).
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time during an 8–12 hour shift.
  • Good written, verbal communication, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Basic computer and math skills to calibrate and measure specifications.
  • Proficiency in using measuring devices such as gauges, meters, calipers, and computers.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in applied science with emphasis on manufacturing, engineering, or QC background/focus (preferred but not required).
