Job summary

Job description

Location: Clay, NY. Salary range: $105,000–$160,200 annually. Relocation authorized nationally for families. Telework type: Full-Time Office/Project. Requisition ID: 295923.

Project Overview

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building, and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. The M&T unit serves customers in the semiconductor, data center, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets, delivering projects worldwide.

Job Summary

The Continuous Improvement Engineer (CIE) will report to the Continuous Improvement Lead (CIL) and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives on this project. The CIE will develop and deliver a customized continuous‑improvement program, including risk‑based strategy, metrics, dashboards, training, analysis tools, and project performance reporting. The role requires applying Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and causal‑analysis techniques to institutionalize improvements that increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Major Responsibilities
  • Support the CIL in developing and implementing a continuous‑improvement program and risk‑based strategy.
  • Manage and supervise a CI team in performing continuous‑improvement tasks.
  • Scope, plan, and select appropriate CI tools.
  • Analyze data from processes and metrics across projects and functions.
  • Develop performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor metrics and drive CI activities; develop and apply quality incident OOM criteria and facilitate causal analysis.
  • Lead causal‑analysis activities and root‑cause investigations.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions on continuous‑improvement methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized performance indicators for the project.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Certified Causal Analysis Lead.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience continuously improving engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and operations work processes.
  • Experience supervising direct reports and achieving measurable continuous‑improvement results through influence and soft skills.
  • Training in Kaizen and/or Lean methodologies.
  • Training in team facilitation techniques.
  • Training in causal‑analysis techniques.
  • Structured approach to process analysis and problem solving.
  • Experience establishing, monitoring, and analyzing data and reporting results to management.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Office, database administration, Visio (or equivalent), and Minitab.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
