iDesign is seeking a Quality Assurance/Compliance professional to drive consumer product safety programs, develop testing protocols, and ensure products meet safety, quality and regulatory requirements. You will set responsibilities and standards for suppliers, factories, and internal teams.

This role is primarily remote with occasional visits to the Solon, Ohio distribution center for inspections. You will collaborate across Design Engineering, Merchandising, Global Sourcing, Sales, and

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years in quality assurance/compliance, consumer products, or relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of CPSC standards and regulations (US and International).
  • Product engineering, safety and reliability experience.
  • Knowledge of hardline and soft line consumer products a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with proven Excel skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow co-workers in a multinational environment.
  • Ability to learn new processes and adapt to new systems and methods.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel 10-15% domestically & internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety/reliability product review and document all concerns.
  • Create testing protocols for new products.
  • Advise on product protective packaging for safety and regulatory issues.
  • Notify internal partners of upcoming significant regulatory changes or product protocol revisions.
  • Participate in concept and development to meet consumer quality expectations; create testing protocols.
  • Insert Quality Control into the design process and prevent issues at concept stage.
  • Drive continuous improvement of QA systems and manage inspection data and regulatory testing.
  • Identify and own QA issues uncovered in development or post shipment, and drive resolution.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance across Global, Federal, State and local programs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver high quality, safe products on time and within cost parameters.
  • Occasional travel to Distribution Center in Solon, Ohio for inspections.

SUMMARY

Responsible for driving process, developing, maintaining, and executing consumer product safety protocols and merchandise testing protocols. Establishing responsibilities and standards for outside service providers and internal team to ensure all product is reviewed, tested, and inspected, and meets governmental and customer expectations of safety, quality, and performance. Responsible for driving continuous improvement of the quality management systems including quality assurance, quality control, product testing, and inspection.

Accountable for elevating the performance of suppliers, factories, and agents on quality control operating systems. Works collaboratively with Design Engineering, Merchandising, Global Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, and the vendor base.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform safety/reliability product review and clearly communicate and document all concerns and potential problems.
  • Create testing protocols for new products.
  • Advise on product protective packaging for language content /safety and regulatory issues.
  • Notify internal partners of upcoming significant regulatory changes or product protocol revisions.
  • Participate in the concept and development of items to ensure that consumer quality expectations are met. Responsible for creating company mandatory testing protocols and ensure they are accurate and adhered to on all applicable products.
  • Insert Quality Control into the design process and eliminate potential issues at the concept stage.
  • Drive continuous improvement on internal and vendor quality management systems and create a process to manage product inspection data and the regulatory testing processes.
  • Identify and own quality assurance issues uncovered in development or post shipment and drive resolution. Identify root cause, create corrective action plans based on risk and provide executive level communication to the organization when the decision is made and issue resolution.
  • Adhere to evolving industry/market demands. Monitor and report on Global, Federal, State and local government regulations/programs/agreements that have potential impact to the company.
  • Work with internal and external partners to ensure high quality and safe product is delivered within cost and on time.
  • This role is primarily remote, individual will need to go to Distribution Center located in Solon, Ohio occasionally for quality inspections.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7-10 years in quality assurance/compliance, consumer products, or relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission) standards and regulations (US and International)
  • Product engineering, safety and reliability experience.
  • Knowledge of both hardline(injection molding, metals, glass, furniture, etc.) and soft line consumer products a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with proven excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow co-workers in a Multi-National environment.
  • Ability to learn new processes and adapt to new systems and methods.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Must be self-motivated to handle multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment.
  • Valid passport and the ability to travel 10-15% both domestically & internationally
