Job description

The Task At Hand:
This is the role that turns 'we make good products' into a system you can prove, audit, and stand behind.

As Quality Compliance Manager, you'll report to the Senior Quality Manager and serve as the technical backbone of JuneShine Brand's internal Quality Compliance program. You'll own the day-to-day execution - leading routine audits and corrective actions, reviewing external documents, investigating supplier quality incidents, and advising leadership on matters of food safety. You'll also partner closely with the New Product Team throughout product and facility onboarding, proactively identifying and mitigating quality, food safety, and regulatory risks before they become problems. You're the company's go-to expert on Quality Compliance - the person every department turns to when product integrity is on the line.

As JuneShine Brands continues to scale, this role scales with it - more products, more partners, more decisions that matter.

Who You Are:
  • Technically fluent in food science, with hands-on knowledge of food safety, food and beverage regulations, audit requirements, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Operationally sharp - you can walk a production line or facility and quickly spot risk
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with a documentation-first mindset that supports compliance, traceability, and continuous improvement
  • Comfortable making tough calls, including saying "no" when a product or partner isn't ready and backing that decision with data and sound judgment
  • Calm under pressure, making timely, well-reasoned quality decisions that protect both consumers and the business
What You'll Do:
  • Partner with Contract Manufacturing Managers and the New Product Team to evaluate, qualify, and onboard contract manufacturers - assessing manufacturing capabilities, quality systems, and food safety programs against company standards
  • Establish and maintain quality agreements, testing requirements, and release criteria for co-manufactured products
  • Plan, conduct, and manage supplier and contract manufacturer audits, driving CAPA programs and continuous improvement based on audit findings and performance data
  • Collaborate with the Innovation team to support new product and process transfer from development through commercial production, developing the quality requirements, specs, and documentation needed for launch
  • Lead cross-functional efforts with New Product, Innovation, Operations, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to ensure successful, compliant product commercialization
  • Maintain broad knowledge of the evolving regulatory landscape and advise the business accordingly
  • Lead risk assessments and validation activities for new formulations, processes, and manufacturing sites
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and performance management of any future direct reports
  • Travel to partner sites for audits, onboarding and new product launches
Must Haves:
  • 21 years of age or older at the time of application
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in the food industry within Quality, Regulatory, or Operations departments
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing direct reports
  • Experience working in the CPG space (Food, THC/hemp, supplements, beverage)
  • Certifications and/or strong working knowledge in Food Safety, GMP, GFSI, and/or Quality Management systems and regulations
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% (w/ occasional needs up to 50% for audits, partner onboarding, and new product launches
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience managing R&D scale-up, formula transfer, and new product commercialization at contract manufacturers
  • Experience working in contract manufacturing quality - including auditing, performance monitoring, and onboarding
Compensation, Perks + Benefits:

Compensation:

  • $100,000 - $115,000 per year
  • The final offer will be based on several factors, including experience, skills, location and overall expertise

  • 12 weeks of paid Equal Parental Leave, $500 Baby Bonding Bucks, and a sustainable baby gift
  • Dedicated parental leave support, including a personalized dashboard, full pay transparency, and a specialist to handle every logistical detail so you can focus on your family

Who We Are
Our Company

JuneShine Brands was built by people who believe you shouldn't have to choose between living well and working hard. Our founders met through a shared love of surfing, the outdoors, and chasing experiences worth having. That spirit still runs through everything we do.

We are a company with a purpose beyond profit. Every brand we build exists for a reason. We believe the next generation of consumers will choose brands that reflect their values, and we intend to build exactly those brands.

We hire exceptional people and get out of their way. Flexible hours, no micromanagement, and trust as the default — we take cues from Yvon Chouinard's Let My People Go Surfing, a book we give every new hire on day one. What we ask in return is simple: own your work, deliver with excellence, and never let flexibility come at someone else's expense.

We value people who are hungry and humble, who take ownership without being asked, who move fast without cutting corners, and who make everyone around them better. If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.

JuneShine Brands is a purpose-driven organization composed of a diverse and dynamicgroup of individuals with varied backgrounds, passions, and beliefs. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone’s unique perspectives are valued. We seek to hire self-motivated, independent thinkers, who embrace challenging the status quo. Join us at JuneShine Brands where you’re encouraged to bring your authentic self to your craft every day.
