Education
Job Description:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required, preferably in a 3rd party testing company or ISA-PS company.
Work Experience
Minimum six years of related work experience required, preferably in a 3rd party testing company or ISA-PS company.
Attendance
Regular attendance required.
Skills & Abilities
- High level of knowledge of quality assurance testing techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of test methods and product performance testing requirements for shoes, components, upper and sole materials.
- Understanding and ability to interpret Federal Agency Regulations (CFRs, FTC, CPSC / CPSIA, AATCC / ASTM / SATRA).
- Basic reading, writing, mathematical, and measurement skills; ability to follow instructions.
- Decision-making ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AS 400, and email software.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Background in non-textile merchandise, footwear materials, construction, and manufacturing methods.
- Understanding of footwear factory production and processing.
- Hearing and vision capability to perform job duties.
- Effective listening, speaking, and writing skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Some Duties
- Develop and assist in product performance testing functions for private label products.
- Ensure testing is conducted within established timelines following relevant standards.
- Maintain acceptable turnaround times.
- Write, publish, and maintain product performance standards and specifications.
- Serve as a key contact for product performance and testing issues.
- Collaborate with product development and sourcing teams on testing requirements.
- Communicate test data and results to relevant stakeholders.
- Address quality issues promptly by working with vendors and internal teams.
- Conduct in-house and third-party testing, follow up on results, and communicate status.
- Perform comparative testing of national brand merchandise.
- Document test results and maintain testing records and databases.
- Communicate with QA management regarding testing issues.
- Coordinate with the compliance department to include safety standards.
- Maintain testing equipment and logs.
- Train new lab technicians and maintain training records.
- Participate in seminars and training on QA initiatives.
- Conduct laboratory tours for visitors.
- Ensure laboratory and equipment are maintained and in testing condition.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
