Overview

Graham Packaging Company has an opening for a Quality Assurance Technician based in Bradford, PA. The shift operates during the hours of 2:54 pm to 11 pm.

Quality Technicians are responsible for attaining and maintaining standards of quality for bottles as defined by drawings, product specifications, and Quality Assurance procedures. They assist in training new personnel on the importance of quality and leadership. They monitor the quality of finished products and packaging at startup and qualifications, both before and after packing. The primary duties of a Quality Technician include:

  1. Understand, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
  2. Communicate about quality with supervisors, managers, other shifts, and departments verbally and through written documents according to plant practice.
  3. Set up and maintain product files in the Infinity QS data collection system for input of variable/attribute data by QA, production, and maintenance personnel.
  4. Develop and analyze statistical data, control charts, and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
  5. Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
  6. Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  7. Maintain Quality Inspection Procedures.
  8. Complete written documentation and forms as required.
  9. Coordinate and manage the held ware and rework processes.
  10. Coordinate quality activity with other departments to achieve plant objectives in compliance with plant procedures.
  11. Coordinate quality control training for employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials and products.
  12. Play an active role on teams within the organization.
  13. Assist in customer complaints investigation and corrective action processes.
  14. Ensure operators and PMT leads follow procedures to conduct tests and inspections.
  15. Change over challenge test samples during product changeovers.
  16. Assist all plant personnel with Infinity and quality reporting systems.
  17. Conduct and participate in gage R&R studies.
  18. Conduct process audits and finished goods inspections for every machine and report any visual defects for correction and traceability.
  19. Complete product qualifications and first articles tests after mold/color changes, and assist with new product approvals (PQP’s).
  20. Analyze SPC charts and evaluate trends.
  21. Retest bottles measurements from production as needed (OOS or OOC) to verify quality standards.
  22. Perform multiple inspection tests to ensure parts meet or exceed specifications.
  23. Identify and segregate non-conforming products according to established procedures.
  24. Audit rejected materials and customer returns, reporting findings.
  25. Monitor challenge test samples (Vision, ALPS, Metal detector) and QA supplies, requesting replacements as needed.
  26. Cover for vacations as needed.
  27. Maintain inventory of all caps and notify QA Manager when inventory is low.
  28. Keep work area and test samples clean and organized.
  29. Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications

A minimum of 1 to 3 years in manufacturing is required. Minimum of 6 months quality experience preferred.

Quality Technicians must interact with managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Essential skills include:

  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and typing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions and routines.
  • Effective communication of facts and information.
  • Team collaboration and proactive contribution to objectives.
