Overview

Graham Packaging Company has new openings for Quality Assurance Technicians based in Bowling Green, KY. This is a Night Shift position, operating from 7:00 pm - 7:00 am on a 2/2/3 schedule (working every other weekend).

  • Weekly pay starting at $22.65 per hour.

The Quality Technicians are responsible for attaining and maintaining standards of quality for bottles as defined by drawings, product specifications, and Quality Assurance procedures. They assist in training new personnel on the importance of quality and leadership. They are responsible for monitoring the quality of finished product and packaging at startup and qualifications, both before and after packing. The primary duties include:

  • Understanding, following, and enforcing all established safety, health, quality GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
  • Communicating about quality with supervisors, managers, other shifts, and departments verbally and through written documents according to plant practice.
  • Setting up and maintaining product files in the Infinity QS data collection system for input of variable/attribute data by QA, production, and maintenance personnel.
  • Developing and analyzing statistical data, control charts, and product specifications to determine current standards and establish quality and reliability expectations of finished products.
  • Participating in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
  • Creating and implementing inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Maintaining Quality Inspection Procedures.
  • Completing required documentation and forms.
  • Coordinating and managing held ware and rework processes.
  • Coordinating quality activities with other departments to meet plant objectives in compliance with procedures.
  • Training employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials and products.
  • Participating actively in organizational teams.
  • Assisting in customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensuring operators and PMT leads follow procedures during tests and inspections.
  • Managing change-over challenge test samples during product changeovers.
  • Supporting Infinity and quality reporting systems for all plant personnel.
  • Conducting and participating in gage R&R studies.
  • Conducting process audits and inspecting finished goods for visual defects, reporting issues for correction and traceability.
  • Completing product qualification tests such as First Articles after mold/color changes and assisting with new product approvals (PQP’s).
  • Analyzing SPC charts and evaluating trends.
  • Retesting bottles from production as needed to verify quality standards.
  • Performing multiple inspection tests to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Identifying and segregating non-conforming products per procedures.
  • Auditing rejected materials and customer returns, reporting findings.
  • Monitoring challenge test samples (Vision, ALPS, Metal detector) and QA supplies, requesting replacements as needed.
  • Covering for vacation as required.
  • Maintaining inventory of caps and notifying QA Manager when low.
  • Keeping work areas and test samples clean and organized.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications

A minimum of 1 to 3 years in manufacturing is required, with at least 6 months of quality experience preferred.

Essential skills and proficiencies include:

  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and typing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions and routines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to collaborate proactively and contribute to team objectives.
