Job summary

Laitram Machine Shop, part of the Laitram family, seeks a Quality Assurance Technician for its Quality Control department in Harahan, LA. The role focuses on CMM programming, inspection of components, and supporting audits and FAT activities to ensure conformance to drawings.

You will collaborate across departments, maintain quality records, and participate in 8D root cause analysis while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in manufacturing or fabrication QA.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Experience with measuring tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete CMM programs for production use with PC-DMIS Cad++.
• Update old CMM programs with revisions.
• Verify components meet customer drawings.
• Perform inspections on products, equipment and machinery.
• Assist in QC audits and process monitoring in all Production departments.
• Assist in Factory Acceptance Testing of finished products.
• Record related Quality Records for verification, testing, auditing, and calibration.
• Work with supervisors using the 8D process for root cause analysis.
• Generate timely Quality Reports to ensure processes function properly.
• Apply Continuous Improvement and Lean principles daily.

Laitram Machine Shop is seeking an Quality Assurance Technician to work in our Quality Control department. Responsibilities

• Complete CMM programs for production use using PC-DMIS Cad++
• Update old CMM programs with updated revision changes
• Verify fabricated components, weldments, and assemblies meet customer drawing requirements.
• Perform inspections on products, equipment and machinery.
• Assist in QC Audits and Process Monitoring in all Production departments.
• Assist in Factory Acceptance Testing of finished products.
• Record all related Quality Records with regards to verification, testing, auditing, and calibration results.
• Work with different department supervisors using the 8D process for root cause analysis.
• Generate timely Quality Reports as required to ensure all Processes are functioning optimally.
• Incorporate and Implement Continuous Improvement and Lean principles in daily work.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing or Fabrication Quality Assurance roles.
• Must be able to read mechanical fabrication drawings
• Must be able to properly use and maintain measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, profilers, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and work proactively in a team environment.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment effectively under pressure.
• Ability to work overtime or weekends as business needs require, with advance notice whenever possible.
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 47 lbs
