Job summary

Laitram Machine Shop, L.L.C. Quality Department is seeking a Quality Specialist to join our team for a standard dayshift with possible overtime and weekend work.

The role involves inspecting materials, reading drawings, creating CMM programs, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams to improve production quality. This position offers opportunities to impact process improvements and support our global manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of quality assurance experience in manufacturing or a technical degree.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical systems and knowledge of quality standards, testing methods, and basic statistics.
• Proficiency in MS Office to create data-driven reports and graphs.
• Strong math, technical, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
• Ability to work overtime or weekends and travel to vendor/customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, respond and resolve shop floor and quality issues with urgency and accuracy.
• Communicate with vendors regarding nonconformance and quality expectations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and production staff to solve problems and support projects.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Read and interpret quality inspection results and support improvements to production processes.
• Lead and support production teams in addressing quality concerns for parts.
• Track medium to large-scale projects and provide regular updates.
• Develop and maintain instructions and guidelines for job functions.
