Elephants Delicatessen in Portland, OR is hiring a Quality Assurance Technician to safeguard food safety, quality, and consistency on the production floor. You will collaborate with production and quality teams to uphold strict standards and regulatory compliance.

This hands-on role focuses on pre-operational checks, HACCP adherence, and internal audits, with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced culinary environment, under a supportive, community-focused employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate/Bachelor preferred.
• 1–2 years in food manufacturing or quality assurance.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, Preventive Controls, allergen management, and food safety principles.
• Current Oregon Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain in required timeframe). HACCP/PCQI certifications a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operational inspections and ATP/allergen swabbing before start of production.
• Monitor CCPs and Preventive Controls to ensure HACCP compliance.
• Inspect ingredients, packaging, finished products, labels, lot codes, and weights for accuracy.
• Document HACCP, sanitation, environmental monitoring, and quality records in real time.
• Verify calibration of thermometers, scales, pH meters, and other equipment.
• Enforce GMPs, allergen controls, and sanitation requirements.
• Support internal audits, mock recalls, USDA/FSIS and FDA inspections.
• Identify and communicate food safety and quality concerns; assist with corrective actions.
• Collect environmental samples and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Collaborate with production teams to maintain product safety and quality.
