Madsen Steel Wire is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Inspector/Machine Operator to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will combine your skills in quality assurance with hands-on machine operation, playing a key role in maintaining production quality and driving continuous improvement. With a focus on inspecting steel wire products, ensuring ISO 9001 compliance, and maintaining quality systems, this position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in upholding exceptional standards. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Inspections
  2. Perform inspections in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
  3. Conduct first and last piece inspections.
  4. Perform in-process inspections.
  5. Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor to ensure quality adherence.
  6. Determine if materials should be scrapped or if rework is feasible.
  7. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
  8. Manage and monitor the performance of quality control systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  9. Evaluate the quality of materials or products and provide technical or procedural guidance to customers.
  10. During downtime, conduct inspections as needed.

Machine Operating

  1. Responsible for fabricating and assembling various metal products using tools, machines, and manual effort.
  2. Read and interpret measurements, blueprints, sketches, and assembly instructions.
  3. Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
  4. Remove burrs, sharp edges, or rust from workpieces.
  5. Report issues to the shift supervisor.

Documentation and Reporting

  1. Complete quality control forms in accordance with company procedures.
  2. Communicate and share information effectively with supervisors and coworkers.

Housekeeping and Additional Responsibilities

  1. Keep the non-conformance area clean and organized.
  2. Assist with ISO audit procedures.
  3. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  4. Overtime is occasional on Fridays.

Work Distribution: Average split is about 80% Machine Operating and 20% Quality Inspection.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, and product design.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  3. Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Excellent organizational skills.
  5. Attention to detail.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand for extended periods.
  2. Capability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  3. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
