Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform routine inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure quality standards are met. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework in quality or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years in quality control or inspection, preferably in plastic extrusion or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments and basic testing procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and interpret technical drawings.
  • Must be physically capable of standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in production.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the inspection area and follow safety protocols.
  • Support internal audits and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure product quality across shifts.

Description
Position Summary:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing routine inspections, tests, and measurements on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal specifications and customer quality standards. Working under the direction of the Quality Control Manager, this role supports production by identifying and documenting non-conformances, maintaining quality records, and helping uphold product integrity throughout the extrusion process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of extruded components according to established quality standards.
  • Conduct testing on physical properties such as wall thickness, diameter, length, and surface quality using calipers, micrometers, Romidot, and Keyence systems and other precision tools.
  • Record all inspections and test results accurately in logbooks, spreadsheets, or quality management systems.
  • Identify and report any defects, non-conforming materials, or process deviations to the Quality Control Manager and appropriate production personnel.
  • Tag and segregate non-conforming materials and assist with corrective action procedures as directed.
  • Calibrate and verify measuring equipment at required intervals and report calibration issues.
  • Retain samples and complete batch records for traceability and compliance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the inspection area and follow all safety and quality protocols.
  • Support internal audits and assist with implementing continuous improvement efforts as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure consistent product quality across shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or coursework in quality or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a quality control or inspection role, preferably in plastic extrusion or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments and basic testing procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, interpret technical drawings or specifications, and work independently.
  • Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in a production environment.
