QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN 1 – LOUISVILLE, KY - (10:30 pm - 7 am)

SUMMARY:

Performs standardized tests to ensure product complies with company, customer, and government specifications and requirements by performing assigned duties. In general, to assist the QA department to ensure all quality and Food Safety & Food Quality related programs and procedures are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitors production lines to ensure the product is within specification and all critical control points and critical quality points are met. If deviation occurs, a corrective action must be taken.
  2. Check all product codes prior to production, during production, and after any code change.
  3. Verify all scales prior to startup with certified weights and record data.
  4. Perform sifter tailing inspections daily and escalate findings.
  5. Assist in leading a product sensory review twice a shift with production for currently running products.
  6. Review daily lab paperwork and report any deviations.
  7. Gather and organize daily production paperwork for review.
  8. Assist in daily review of packaging activity papers for holds and quality. Disposition of product accordingly.
  9. Complete all sample requests.
  10. Prepare first production samples for review. Verify labels for lot code dates and allergens.
  11. Ability and willingness to learn and troubleshoot lab equipment/instruments.
  12. Perform all sanitation, food safety, and food quality inspections prior to startup of each production day.
  13. Assist in production when there are quality issues. Help lead root cause investigations.
  14. Collect and retain samples of daily production and store them for future reference.
  15. Verify metal detectors and checkweighers daily.
  16. Assist in inspecting line equipment before start-up and after cleaning/maintenance. Complete appropriate forms and tags.
  17. Assist R&D with new production sampling and testing.
  18. Responsible for logging correct and accurate data for all testing done on production runs.
  19. Print and pass out quality production paperwork when QA Technician 2 is unavailable.
  20. Proficient with computers and has the ability to use Microsoft Office and enter data into software such as DeaCom.
  21. Maintain and file all records according to company policy.
  22. Work with management to ensure accurate information is being documented in the production of the products and assist with Food Safety and Quality-related issues.
  23. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures on safety, GMPs, and SQF.
  24. For guidelines and specific procedures on how to perform tasks, refer to Standard Operating Procedures.
  25. Ability to maintain open communication via 2 way radios with production and other quality personnel.
  26. Other duties as needed & assigned by the QA Supervisor and/or QA Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to make decisions.
  • Ability to work with managerial, clerical, production, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence legibly.
  • Must be able to speak and read English.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions with little direction.
  • Must have computer skills.
  • Must carry out “Good Manufacturing Practices” to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
