Job summary

Perform quality control functions through the measurement of dimensional and physical properties of hot rolled steel products. Maintain and operate tensile test machine and bending test apparatus. Record, verify and submit test results to check conformity of finished product to required specifications.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Monitors the production process and collects hot‑rolled steel samples as needed
• Performs physical and dimensional tests on steel samples
• Compare test results to material specifications
• Performs calibration verification on test equipment
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area

What You’ll Need

• Ability to work a 12‑hour rotating shift which may include weekends and holiday
• Able to work well and efficiently in teams and cross‑functional activities
• Must have an excellent work ethic, attention to detail, communication and organizational skills
• Previous experience in Quality Control preferred
• Ability to work in non‑climate controlled environment
• Basic Math Skills
• Skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Work, Excel, etc.) is an asset
• Moving, carrying, lifting, objects in excess of 50 lbs

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
