Job summary

Accelera in Manteno, IL is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to verify that our food items, raw materials, packaging, and processes meet safety and quality protocols on the production floor. You will conduct inspections, document findings, and collaborate with multiple departments to address issues.

Schedule: 3rd Shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM). This contract-to-hire role emphasizes precision, clear communication, and the use of QC tools such as calipers, scales, rulers, and X-ray/metal detection

• Support sanitation inspections and maintain QA equipment.
• Collect samples for sensory, shelf-life, and validation initiatives.
• Maintain shift logs and documentation.
• Assist with evolving QA tasks to improve efficiency.

Job description

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for verifying that our food items, raw materials, packaging, and manufacturing processes align with strict safety and quality protocols. You will spend the vast majority of your time on the production floor conducting inspections, documenting findings, and collaborating with various departments to address any identified issues.

Location: Manteno, IL | Type: Contract-to-Hire | Compensation: $20–$24/hour | Schedule: 3rd Shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM)

Required Expertise

• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute standard safety and quality audits on production lines to maintain accurate records.
• Verify packaging, labeling, weight, measurements, and expiration dates to ensure consumer safety.
• Assess raw materials and finished goods against established quality benchmarks.
• Perform necessary allergen and gluten screenings.
• Help maintain a safe working environment by conducting thorough pre-operational sanitation inspections.
• Ensure equipment reliability by maintaining and calibrating QA instrumentation.
• Collect product samples to support sensory, shelf-life, and validation initiatives.
• Facilitate rapid resolution of safety issues by reporting concerns to the production team immediately.
• Maintain detailed shift logs and documentation.
• Assist with evolving QA tasks to help improve overall department efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Background in bakery, food manufacturing, or quality control environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-driven with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to uphold rigorous food safety and quality standards consistently.
• Adaptability to thrive in a high-speed manufacturing setting.
