IPG in Blythewood, SC is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join the Quality Assurance team. You will test materials, document results, and verify conformity to specifications in collaboration with production staff.

Responsibilities include maintaining COA records, operating lab equipment, calibrating devices, and contributing to ISO-compliant procedures. This role requires teamwork, accuracy, and flexibility to work various shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; strong math, written, and oral communication.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Manufacturing or laboratory experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of metric and English measurements.
  • Able to work well in a team.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Able to stand for long shifts; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, approves, and files the Certificate of Analysis for incoming raw materials.
  • Maintain daily safety regulations, procedures, and housekeeping.
  • Operate all testing equipment in the lab.
  • Test products from the mixing area.
  • In-process testing of TB’s and jumbos from the coating area.
  • Slit tape inspections in the converting area.
  • Inform operators and shift leaders of non-conformances.
  • Ensure hold tags on non-conforming materials or products.
  • Test aged finished tape.
  • Provide test results to MRB for credit or replacement.
  • Calibrate test equipment; arrange external calibration when needed.
  • Maintain the Quality Manual, Level 2 Procedure Documents, and ISO work instructions.
  • Participate in MRB as required.
  • Provide and maintain test data from trial runs.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by QA Manager.

Position Purpose

Quality Assurance Technicians are responsible for the testing and documentation of test results to confirm that materials and products meet the required specifications. They work closely with operating personnel to ensure nonconforming products are identified and corrective actions are taken.

Principle Accountabilities
  • Collects, approves, and files the Certificate of Analysis for incoming raw materials.
  • Maintain daily safety regulations, procedures, and housekeeping.
  • Qualified to operate all testing equipment in the lab.
  • Performs and documents the testing of products from the mixing area.
  • Performs and documents the in-process testing of TB’s and jumbos from the coating area.
  • Performs and documents slit tape inspections in the converting area.
  • Keeps operators and shift leaders informed of any non-conformances found.
  • Ensures hold tags are filled out and attached to non-conforming materials or products.
  • Performs and documents aged, finished tape testing.
  • Provides test results to the MRB of material returned by customers for credit or replacement.
  • Calibrates test equipment at proper intervals. Sends equipment to external source for calibration if it cannot be calibrated internally. Keeps calibration records up to date.
  • Maintains and updates the Quality Manual, Level 2 Procedure Documents, and appropriate ISO work instructions.
  • Participates as a member of the MRB as required.
  • Provides and maintains test data from trial runs.
  • Provides all other functions assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Essential Skills And Experience
  • High school graduate with strong math, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational and inter-personal skills.
  • Previous manufacturing or laboratory experience desired.
  • Good understanding of metric and English measures.
  • Ability and willingness to work with others as a team member.
  • Maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Able to stand a majority of the shift.
  • Must be able to work any shift required, including overtime.
