Position Description

Title: Cast Line Assistant

Immediate Supervisor: Plant Supervisory Staff

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Principle Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the safe, controlled start‑up and operation of the cast line equipment including starting the machine, engaging the feed, observing the operation, and assists changeover process.
  • Inspects and measures completed pieces to verify conformity to customer production standards.
  • Monitors and adjusts controls to ensure product complies with production standards.
  • Coaching and mentoring of assistants and helpers by providing clear and precise instructions, if assigned
  • Maintains equipment through completion of assigned preventative maintenance tasks and minor repair techniques as required.
  • Records quality and production metrics via written communication methods and within time deadlines, as necessary.
  • Performs all work in a safety‑first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
  • Related tasks as requested by supervisor

Essential Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ Years in a Manufacturing Environment experience required
  • Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
  • General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
  • Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention.
