Supervisor, Quality Assurance and Food Safety – Memphis, TN
Responsibilities
- Serve as facility lead for HACCP and Food Defense teams, keeping programs current and effective.
- Collaborate with Operations, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Maintenance teams to conduct facility inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
- Participate in consumer complaint investigations and support root‑cause analysis with corrective action follow‑up.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory and customer audits; track and complete corrective actions.
- Monitor and report on facility QAFS performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
- Support sanitation verification/validation and environmental monitoring activities; escalate concerns promptly to facility leadership.
- Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory bodies, customers, and corporate QAFS staff.
- Keep current on relevant food safety and quality regulations and assist with implementing changes as needed.
- Provide day‑to‑day supervision, training, and coaching to QAFS technicians, supporting development and ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Support new product trials and documentation of related lab and QAFS activities.
- Always follow all health and safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree in a related discipline with 3+ years’ experience working directly in a QAFS role in a food manufacturing business, or the equivalent in experience.
- Direct experience developing and/or managing within a HACCP, risk‑based, QAFS system.
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Food Defense regulations, systems and practices in the applicable regulatory jurisdiction (e.g., USFDA, CFIA, FSA).
- Working knowledge of GFSI Food Safety Certification Systems.
