Job summary

6AM City, LLC is seeking a QA Supervisor to assist in maintaining the quality assurance program and food safety system across all warehouses and production facilities. You will help ensure compliance with customer standards, regulatory requirements, and internal audits, while supporting GMP, GFSI, SQF, and CAPA initiatives.

The role requires collaboration with staff, training, audits, and potentially covering managerial duties in the absence of the QA Manager.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in food safety and quality assurance.
  • Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for assisting the QA Manger in maintaining the quality assurance program and food safety system for all warehouse and production facilitates. The QA Supervisor ensures compliance with customer standards and food safety regulations through communication with departmental staff, personnel training, addressing customer complaints, conducting internal audits/inspections, and participating in 3rd party audits. In the absence of the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor will be responsible for covering the managerial duties, therefore must have knowledge of the programs and procedures. Must fully support all food safety initiatives including, but not limited to, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMPs).

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring the food safety system and quality assurance programs and procedures for all warehouse and production facilities to continuously meet standards.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), regulations, and customer standards.
  • Secondary Safe Quality Food (SQF) practitioner.
  • Support Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Hazard Analysis Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC) plans and procedures, serving as a HACCP team member.
  • Conduct internal audits and GMP inspections for processing, distribution, and delivery.
  • Work closely with company personnel to determine and resolve food safety and QA needs or concerns.
  • Prepare for and participate in 3rd party food safety audits (GMP, GFSI, SQF, customer specific) and regulatory inspections. Assist in addressing nonconformances and implementing corrective action and preventive action (CAPA) plans. Must manage audits and regulatory inspections in the absence of the QA Manager.
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Conduct training for core food safety, department specific, and safety.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (i.e., early mornings, late evenings, weekends) as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related science discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in food safety and quality assurance.
  • Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of FSMA, food safety policies and regulations (federal, state and local) preferred.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing and/or food storage and distribution processes.
  • Knowledge in sensory and quality evaluations, shelf-life testing, and research and development of products.
  • Experience with GMP and GFSI audits preferred.
  • Ability to interpret microbiological test results and make recommendations or decisions.
