Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to analyze quality data across manufacturing and assembly, audit documentation, and drive MRB and corrective actions. You will coordinate FAI and inspections, review supplier documentation, and maintain detailed quality reports.

The role emphasizes GD&T interpretation, FARO Arm usage, and EEE/PCB inspections. The ideal candidate has a background in aerospace or regulated environments, with ASQ credentials and CostPoint/Deltek experience.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Analysis

  • Evaluate quality performance data for manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test activities to identify trends.
  • Audit drawings, specifications, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation for compliance with contractual and quality requirements.
  • Facilitate nonconformance investigations, track root cause analysis data, monitor corrective actions, and document MRB activities.
  • Provide quality compliance oversight throughout the manufacturing process and track production-related quality metrics.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final acceptance documentation.

Mechanical Inspection

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of machined and fabricated mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Perform dimensional inspections using calibrated inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and/or FARO Arm programs to execute dimensional inspections and verification.
  • Execute, update, and maintain existing CMM or FARO Arm inspection programs based on engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
  • Perform receiving and visual inspection of bare Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) for compliance with engineering drawings, procurement specifications, and applicable workmanship/acceptance requirements.
  • Inspect PWBs for dimensional requirements, workmanship, surface defects, solder mask, plating, hole quality, markings, and other specified acceptance criteria.
  • Perform or support PWB dimensional verification, bow and twist measurements, and First Article Inspection (FAI), as required.
  • Review supplier documentation, Certificates of Conformance (C of C), inspection/test reports, and other required PWB acceptance documentation.
  • Analyze and document inspection results and generate detailed quality reports.
  • Identify, document, and track nonconforming material in accordance with established Quality procedures.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and documentation, as required.

Electrical / EEE Inspection

  • Perform receiving and acceptance inspection of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts and assemblies.
  • Verify part numbers, manufacturer information, date/lot codes, quantities, markings, packaging, and traceability documentation.
  • Review Certificates of Conformance (C of C), test reports, and other supplier documentation against purchase order and specification requirements.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of electronic components, connectors, cables, and related hardware.
  • Support ESD-controlled handling and inspection requirements.

Supplier Quality Compliance

  • Support supplier qualification, evaluation, surveillance, and performance monitoring through data scorecards.
  • Audit supplier Quality Management Systems, certifications, capabilities, and quality documentation.
  • Partner with suppliers to track nonconformances, monitor corrective actions, and resolve recurring quality issues.
  • Review supplier corrective action responses and verify effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
  • Participate in supplier audits and source inspections, as required.
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program teams to ensure supplier compliance with purchase order, drawing, specification, and contractual requirements.
Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, or a similar regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality requirements.
  • Experience interpreting mechanical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience executing FARO Arm programs for dimensional inspection.
  • Experience with mechanical, bare PWB, and/or EEE inspection.
  • Knowledge of ESD controls and electronic component handling.
  • Familiarity with supplier quality, nonconformance tracking, corrective action systems, and MRB processes.
  • Strong communication, data documentation, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support multiple programs and changing priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Experience with CostPoint/Deltek applications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Business Analytics, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related technical discipline.
  • Five to seven years of experience in manufacturing quality analysis, inspection, or supplier quality compliance.
  • Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) are highly desirable.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time 40 hours per week. Typically, day and core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
