Job summary

Ever Fresh Fruit Company in Oregon seeks a Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure SQF compliance and support audits. This non-exempt regular role reports to the QA Manager and backs up QA Supervisors and Technicians.

You will perform nonconformance analysis, root cause analysis, manage customer and supplier complaints, develop SOPs, maintain document portals, and conduct routine audits and product testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field.
• 2+ years applicable experience in the food industry, preferably in a hands-on role.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills and an understanding of statistics.
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions/preventive actions (CAPAs) strongly preferred.
• HACCP certification and SQF experience preferred.
• Lean/Six Sigma training preferred.
• Shift flexibility and some travel availability as required.
• Detail oriented team player with superior verbal, written, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Skilled in computer systems and MS Office with working knowledge of computer databases.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks.

Quality Assurance Specialist

Department: Quality Assurance

Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Quality Assurance Technical Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for supporting compliance with regulations and the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager. The QA Specialist also acts as a designated backup to the QA Supervisor and QA Technicians.

Essential Functions:

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:

1. Worker may be exposed to temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. More extreme temperatures possible during summer months.
2. Worker exposed to a loud working environment.
3. Worker exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current.
4. Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.).
