Job summary

Pacific Seafood is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support the VCQ program across designated locations, ensuring continuous production of products meeting established standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail and daily administrative support for VCQ and EHS activities.

Responsibilities include maintaining QC documentation, coordinating internal/external audits, and ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, and other standards.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, SharePoint, Airtable.

Summary:

The Quality Assurance Specialist (known internally as Value Creation and Quality Specialist or VCQ) at Pacific Seafood is a key role supporting our Regional VCQ Manager in the management, implementation and continued improvement of Pacific Seafood’s VCQ Programs. This role will plan, coordinate, and direct the Quality Assurance Program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. This individual will support designated locations on VCQ activities as needed. This position requires an extremely detail oriented person who will support the administrative tasks associated with VCQ and EHS daily business operations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times.

  • Maintain the distribution product production specification Library. Gather product information and develop specifications as new products are created or update older specifications so they are current.

  • Perform administrative tasks working within the Trust Layer platform in support of Pacific Seafood’s supplier approval program.

  • Maintain a centralized file location for storing VCQ KPI tracking, Mock Recall results and Pathogen Prevention (PPP) test results.

  • Collect, organize, store and report EHS data in accordance with the current reporting matrix.

  • Offer and implement training, as needed.

  • Remain current on all regulatory requirements and law changes.

  • Interpret and implement FDA, State, USDA, USDC regulations ensuring HACCP, SSOP, Cleaning/Sanitation, Pathogen Prevention, FSMA, Sanitary Transportation, Mitigation of intentional Adulteration, COOL, Bioterrorism Act and Traceability standards are met.

  • Establish and maintain GFSI/BRC/SQF/BAP/MSC/ASC/RFM standards to meet audit requirements.

  • Interact with Regulatory Agencies and/or third-party auditors.

  • Follow-up on customer complaints.

  • Perform internal/external audits and inspections to ensure that all standards and requirements are met.

  • Responsible for achievement of quality department goals and objectives.

  • Identify, investigate and report on critical quality defects on production processes and products.

  • Determine source of quality variance and specific steps to be taken in correcting the process and product.

  • Ensure systems are in place to make certain that vendors are capable of meeting quality expectations.

  • Prepare and submit reports as required.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience


  • Required

    • Minimum of one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, SharePoint, Airtable.



  • Preferred

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

    • Experience with photography equipment.

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
