Job summary

Royal Engineers and Consultants, LLC seeks a skilled Quality Assurance Representative III to oversee construction plan conformity, materials, and workmanship. The role requires independent judgment to resolve routine issues, interpret plans and specs, and approve minor deviations per contract.

The candidate will prepare inspection reports, monitor contractor activities, and coordinate with project teams to ensure quality standards are met and project delivery is successful.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years in construction inspection, quality assurance, quality control, or related construction work including interpreting plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, standards, and construction documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
• Inspect construction activities, materials, workmanship, and completed work for compliance.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between plans and specs in routine issues not affecting design or costs.
• Provide authoritative decisions on method acceptability.
• Approve minor deviations aligned with contract requirements and precedents.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit inspection reports and documentation.
• Monitor contractor operations for adherence to standards and specs.
• Coordinate with project management, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders on quality concerns.
• Escalate unusual or complex problems to supervisory staff for guidance.
• Use technical resources to address trade or material issues.
• Support project teams in maintaining QA objectives and ensuring delivery.

Position Summary

We seek a highly skilled, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Representative III to oversee and ensure compliance with construction plans, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards. This position serves as an experienced field representative who evaluates construction methods, workmanship, materials, and completed work to ensure conformity with established project requirements.

The successful candidate will exercise independent judgment to resolve routine construction issues, interpret plans and specifications, and approve minor deviations that align with established precedents and contractual requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
• Inspect construction activities, materials, workmanship, and completed work to verify compliance with project requirements.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between plans and specifications involving routine construction issues that do not affect engineering design or project costs.
• Provide authoritative decisions regarding the acceptability of construction methods, workmanship, materials, and finished products.
• Approve minor deviations in construction methods and practices when consistent with contract requirements, established precedents, and without additional project costs.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate, complete, and timely inspection reports and documentation.
• Monitor contractor operations to ensure adherence to quality standards, contract specifications, and approved construction practices.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering staff, contractors, and other stakeholders to address quality concerns and project issues.
• Escalate unusual, complex, or novel construction problems to supervisory staff for guidance and resolution.
• Utilize available technical resources and specialized expertise to address unique trade, craft, or material-related concerns.
• Support project teams in maintaining quality assurance objectives and ensuring successful project delivery.

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience: More than three years of progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, quality control, or related construction work, including interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of construction practices, materials, methods, and quality assurance principles.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, standards, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of applicable construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions regarding quality compliance and construction acceptability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in preparing inspection reports and maintaining project documentation.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work independently while recognizing when supervisory or engineering assistance is needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Construction Quality Management (CQM-C) Certification.
