A leading home health organization is seeking a Quality Assurance Registered Nurse to oversee quality improvement activities and compliance with healthcare standards. This role requires strong communication skills and a valid RN license in California, along with experience in home health care. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring performance and ensuring regulatory compliance while collaborating with various personnel.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Assurance Registered Nurse is a professional and responsible for all thequality activities of the organization. The Quality Assurance Registered Nurse hasaccountabilities for the monitoring, implementation, and evaluation of processes and programs tomeet regulatory requirements, accreditation, and standards of practice.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to all components of the above position summary the following “Essential Duties andResponsibilities” are essential to successful performance in this position• Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the organization’s qualityimprovement program.• Ensures that there are processes in place to monitor and measure all activities related toperformance improvement.• Provides direction and coordination of quality improvement activities utilizingcontinuous quality improvement principles and methodologies.• Coordinates activities related to clinical record review for data collection.• Complies, trends, and reports quality data in the following areas: patient care, safety, riskmanagement, infection control, outcomes, and customer satisfaction.• Works collaboratively with nursing supervisors to ensure documentation is complete andconsistent with care and reflects legal requirements.• As a member of the Patient Grievance Committee collaborates with managementpersonnel in follow-up of concerns expressed by patients, families, and physicians.• Establishes a process model for improvement and provides education and training toorganization personnel on the performance improvement plan, as well as teamdevelopment.• Responsible for ensuring processes to monitor and evaluate safety, risk management, andinfection control programs.• Coordinates, educates and implements monitoring activities for safety, risk management,and infection control.• Coordinates mandatory in-service programs on OSHA regulations for safety andinfection control.• Acts as a resource to personnel in identifying safety and risk management issues forpatients and personnel.• Review all incident reports for completeness, risk, standard of care determination, andappropriate follow-up. Maintains a log for trending and makes recommendations relatedto trends identified.• Maintains current knowledge related to home care safety and infection control standards.• Collaborates with nursing supervisors to provide a process to promote and ensureemployee orientation, competency, and in-service education programs.• Assists in the identification of skills for annual competence and provides in-servicetraining support.• Maintains aggregate records of employee orientation and annual competencyrequirements as part of the PI plan.• Monitor organization compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.• Maintains current knowledge related to Medicare Conditions of Participation and theAccreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) standards to ensure that theorganization is compliant with state, federal, and accreditation guidelines.• Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures reflect all related local, state, federal,and ACHC standards and makes recommendations for policy changes to the governingboard.• Acts as a resource to clinical supervisors regarding standards, policies, and regulationsand provides in-service training to leadership and personnel as needed in these areas.• Acts as a clinical resource to personnel.• Maintains updated nursing knowledge and skills.• Assists with patient visits as needed.• Assists with administrative calls on a rotational basis and clinical calls as needed.• Helps the community education team in meeting community education needs.• Make public speaking engagements as scheduled by the community education team.• Maintains positive relationships with referral sources.• Maintains a positive image in the community.• Acts as a representative of the organization at community meetings, and civic andprofessional organizations as needed.• Promotes self-growth and collegial relations with others in the home care industry.• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops,reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks, andparticipating in professional organizations or societies.The above statements are intended to be a representative summary of the major duties andresponsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. The incumbents may be requested toperform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES• The incumbent in this position supervises Department Heads directly and all communityassociates indirectly.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS• Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.• Minimum of 3 years experience as a quality assurance Registered Nurse in a home health setting• Possesses and maintains current CPR/First Aid certification and negative TB skin test orchest x-ray.• Must have a valid in-state driver’s license, provide current registration and insurance, andhave a driving record.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESTo perform this position successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty andresponsibility satisfactorily. Pay scale : $50 -$60 per hour
