Qualifications

Job description

Responsible for leading the daily operations of the Quality Department and ensuring products meet company quality standards. This role manages the quality team, oversees testing, supplier quality, customer issues, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Operations Manager works closely with Product Development, Sourcing, Distribution Centers, and Customer Service to resolve quality issues and drive improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The incumbent may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential functions as determined by business necessity:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Quality Department.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Quality team members.
  • Set department priorities and monitor workload.
  • Ensure products meet company quality standards and specifications.
  • Oversee product testing, inspections, and supplier quality activities.
  • Review customer complaints and product returns to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve product performance.
  • Partner with Product Development, Sourcing, Distribution Centers, and Customer Service on quality-related projects.
  • Maintain quality procedures, specifications, and documentation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports for leadership.
  • Travel to suppliers and company facilities as needed.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Performs duties under direction where specific objectives are established, plans, and arranges a significant portion of own work, referring only unusual cases to manager or others.

EDUCATION, TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of quality experience in manufacturing or consumer products.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SharePoint, Teams and Excel.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, and/or LICENSES:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Word, SharePoint, and Excel required and experience using quality systems and reporting tools. Excellent communication skills are required due to frequent contact with other departments and external vendors/ suppliers. Able to perform responsibilities under specified time schedules and contribute to a fast-paced environment.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional publications, and business information. Ability to write reports, create spreadsheets, business correspondence and effectively present information as well as respond to questions from all levels throughout the organization. Spanish bilingual skills not required but a plus.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS and/or PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Will use a computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse regularly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to push, pull, and lift cartons up to 50 lbs. International/Domestic travel may be required based on business need. Weekly travel into the home office based on business need. As a hybrid position, at work home setting is required to ensure comfort and privacy for sensitive information.

This position may have up to 1 direct report.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
