JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Lead Scope Repair Technician, the Sr. Endoscopy QA Tech is accountable for incoming and final QA inspections of Flexible Endoscopes. May offer guidance to Scope Repair Tech I and II staff. May offer in-service and personal training for equipment users on subjects such as electrical safety, proper operation and care of the endoscopic equipment. Will monitor the work of outside Scope Repair vendors to ensure quality standards are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
• Our technicians work in comfortable, bright, lab like environments.
• Accurately examines, tests and troubleshoots Endoscopes for defects and other issues.
• Determine the best course of service or repair to renew and get said device / instrument back to working order.
• Work with equipment and small machinery such as microscopes, grinders, sanders, soldering irons, and sharpeners/polishers.
• Identify casings, flex tubing, circuitry, electronics, camera lens, and various machined parts.
• Performs incoming inspections on assigned flexible endoscopes to identify proper operation of all components to identify problems and issues that need to be resolved.
• Performs final QA inspections on assigned flexible endoscopes to ensure proper operation and function.
• Identify necessary parts needed to repair endoscopes following incoming inspections.
• Performs all assignments in a competent and timely way according to current policies and procedures.
• Monitors service provided by outside scope repair vendors, and accountable for quality control of service provided.
• Establishes equipment baselines, performs inspections and evaluations, interprets test results and makes recommendations to solve performance deficiencies.
• Experience installing, repairing and calibrating most classes of flexible and inflexible endoscopes at a component level.
• Uses diagnostic service software appropriate to the equipment being serviced.
• Helps in the evaluation of new endoscopic equipment, accessories and supplies.
• Inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer’s instructions.
• Adherence to established manufacturing and material control policies and procedures in compliance with ISO quality standards.
• Assist in the modification of detailed work instructions for the manufacturing, assembly and test of Flexible Endoscope practices.
• Assist in the diagnosis and service of repaired Flexible Endoscope that have failed in the field.
• Comply with ISO quality standards including capturing assigned data for analysis and reporting to the customer and suppliers.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, immediately reporting potential hazardous situations.
• Assist other areas of the service operations on and as needed basis.
• Represent the Company professionally, honestly and ethically in all respects
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
• Knowledge and experience with all Flexible endoscope manufacturers a plus. Examples: Olympus, Pentax, Fuji, Storz, Endochoice etc.
Requirements:
• Associates Degree in biomedical equipment technology or electronics or equivalent training experience preferred.
• 8+ years’ experience in Flexible or Inflexible Endoscope repair industry required.
• Has and maintains a safe driving record
• Solid knowledge of computerized systems: recordkeeping, PM, work order systems, timekeeping, etc.
• Have exceptional technical, mechanical, data-based and problem solving skills.
• Able to interact and communicate with all staff and management in a positive and professional way.
• Able to deal with difficult situations, resolve issues and concerns in a professional way.
• Able to work and accomplish tasks in a stressful, fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated technical aptitude. Ability to quickly pick up new processes with minimal guidance.
• Attention to detail, thoroughness, organization, hand–eye coordination.
