The Quality Manager is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and review of the company’s quality management system and promoting employee awareness of quality and applicable requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining a quality management system compliant with applicable quality requirements;
- Promoting employee awareness of responsibilities and understanding of quality policy and quality management system requirements;
- Reporting to top management on the effectiveness of the quality management system, including needs for improvement;
- Ensuring that Management Review Meetings (MRM) are scheduled, conducted and that the minutes are recorded and finalized.
- Ensure the facility meets applicable environmental and waste compliance;
- Ensure that product meets customer requirements and complies with quality requirements; investigate quality issues to determine root cause and develop a corrective action plan;
- Perform internal audits, identify issues/potential issues within quality management system;
- Manage internal audit schedule and assignments, and perform independent assessment of others internal audit reports;
- Supplier management including overseeing supplier processes, implementing quality agreements, monitoring performance and supplier audits;
- Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs;
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance activities are conducted according to assigned schedules;
- Collect and compile statistical quality data; prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality objectives;
- Liaise and/or assist with third-party quality and customer audits and inspections, both routine and unannounced;
- Hire, train and supervise subordinate employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Minimum 3-6 years’ experience in a Quality Manager or similar role, ideally within manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and regulatory standards
- Able to multi-task and work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Internal auditor experience a plus but not a requirement
- Experience working with an electronic quality management system a plus but not a requirement
