Quality Assurance (QA) Lead

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Classification: Exempt

Status: Full-Time

Purpose:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Lead is responsible for driving software quality across our technology portfolio and supporting the delivery of exceptional digital experiences for our Specialty Pharmacy team.

The QA Lead is responsible for leading quality assurance efforts across multiple projects, establishing testing standards, and promoting best practices for manual, automated, and AI-assisted testing. This role combines hands‑on testing with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring QA team members, improving testing processes, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.

The ideal candidate for this role will have strong technical knowledge of software QA and emerging AI-driven testing methodologies. The QA Lead is a collaborative problem‑solver with excellent communication skills who can drive continuous improvement and help build a culture of quality across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees test plans, test strategies and executes test cases based on business requirements.
• Monitors and guides the QA process to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions
• Promotes and ensures adherence to established QA methodologies, processes, standards, and best practices across the testing lifecycle.
• Leads testing efforts for front-end, back-end and API solutions across mobile and desktop, ensuring comprehensive coverage and risk mitigation
• Identifies and implements methods and processes tdata quality, consistency, and integrity across multiple systems and data sources
• Validates data, reports and dashboards through comprehensive testing and quality assurance controls
• Accountable for QA outcomes, including managing defect reporting, generating failure logs, and identifying quality trends
• Provides QA leadership and strategic input during team meetings, projecting planning sessions, and Scrum ceremonies
• Develops and reviews SQL queries used to create, analyze and validate test data Communicates testing progress, quality metrics, risks, and release readiness recommendations to stakeholders as the QA subject matter expert across multiple initiatives
• Leads the design, development, and implementation of automated testing for desktop and mobile web, native applications, and desktop applications.
• Leverages AI-powered testing tools and frameworks to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
• Implements machine learning models for predictive defect analysis and risk‐based testing.
• Utilizes AI-driven test case generation and optimization techniques to enhance testing effectiveness and productivity
• Mentors, coaches, and develops QA engineers, building their technical skills in both traditional and AI‑assisted testing practices to raise the overall capability of the team.
• Leads initiatives to advance QA capabilities and maturity, including introducing new tools, frameworks, and best practices for manual, automated, and AI‑driven testing.
• Defines, tracks, and reports on QA metrics (e.g., defect escape rate, test coverage, automation coverage, and cycle time) to measure quality outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
• Evaluates and champions the adoption of AI-powered testing tools and techniques across the QA team to accelerate test creation, execution, and defect analysis.
• Serves as a technical escalation point for complex testing challenges, quality risks, and testing strategy decisions across projects and teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in software quality assurance, with demonstrated experience leading QA initiatives, and test efforts; prior lead experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and quality assurance principles
• Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical and nontechnical information to diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and report quality metrics
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills with the ability to influence others
• Knowledge of AI concepts and their use in software testing.
• Familiarity with AI-driven software tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and developing QA engineers fostering both technical growth and continuous learning
• Experience defining and monitoring QA metrics and KPIs—such as defect escape rate, test coverage, and automation coverage to evaluate and communicate quality outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 years of experience testing desktop and mobile web and native applications.
• Experience testing SMS, messaging, notification, and communication-based applications
• Experience testing APIs.
• Experience within pharmacy, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries
• Experience using proprietary project and issue tracking software (Azure DevOps, JIRA, etc.).
• Experience using test management systems (Azure Test Plans, TestRail, etc.)
• Experience in developing and implementing automated testing using a scripting language (C# preferred), Rest Assured, Appium, Playwright and Selenium.
• Experience with AI-based visual testing and intelligent defect prediction tools.
• Knowledge of integrating AI models into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality monitoring.
• Experience building QA training programs, career development plans, or skills roadmaps for team members.
• Experience building or maintaining QA metrics dashboards and reporting tools for stakeholder visibility into quality trends.

This job functions in a professional home or office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
