Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to support satellite production. This hands-on role ensures in-process and finished products meet aerospace standards, working with production and engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

Relocation to Midland, TX is provided. Pay is DOE with shift differentials for 2nd, 3rd shifts. Training and growth opportunities are offered in one of the country’s most innovative satellite manufacturing programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Ability to provide standard quality dispositions and document inspection results accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process inspections of electrical and mechanical assemblies using drawings, CAD models, and instructions.
• Conduct detailed final inspections including First Article Inspections and supplier document reviews.
• Identify, document, and communicate production nonconformances per quality procedures.
• Ensure compliance with QMS policies, procedures, and standards.
• Communicate quality concerns with Quality Engineers to support timely resolutions.
• Support multiple assignments concurrently with changing production schedules.
• Verify proper use of calibrated measuring instruments.
• Read, interpret, and follow work instructions and specifications.
• Maintain professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail in daily inspections.
• Comply with PPE, safety guidelines, and company dress code.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to support production by ensuring that satellite components meet all quality and engineering requirements. This role is hands-on and detail-driven, working closely with production and engineering teams to verify that both in-process and finished products meet strict aerospace standards.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay: DOE, Additional shift differentials apply for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th shifts.

Shift Schedules

• 1st Shift – Days: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (4x10 schedule) with paid lunch and breaks (Need 1 QA Inspector)** )**
• 2nd Shift – Nights: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. (4x10 schedule) with a 10% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks (Need 1 QA Inspector)** )**
• 3rd Shift – Weekends: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (3x12 schedule) with a 20% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks (Need QA Inspector)** )**
• Flexibility: Night and weekend shifts may be available with shift differential pay depending on business needs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Perform in-process inspections of electrical and mechanical assemblies using technical drawings, CAD models, work instructions, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements
• Conduct detailed final product inspections on finished goods, including First Article Inspections (FAI) and certified supplier documentation reviews
• Identify, document, and communicate production nonconformances in accordance with quality procedures and established processes
• Ensure compliance with QMS policies, procedures, and applicable quality standards
• Communicate quality concerns effectively with Quality Engineers and other AST SpaceMobile personnel to support timely resolutions
• Support multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining flexibility with changing production schedules
• Monitor and verify the proper use of calibrated measuring and inspection instruments
• Read, interpret, and follow work instructions, technical drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements
• Maintain professionalism, accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail in daily inspection activities
• Comply with all PPE requirements, product protection standards, company dress code, and general company guidelines
• Support a safe, clean, and quality-focused manufacturing environment

What You Bring:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience with quality assurance principles, methods, and processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
• Ability to provide standard quality dispositions and document inspection results accurately
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with Quality Engineers and cross-functional teams
• Ability to fully comply with PPE requirements and product protection procedures including smocks, gloves, and related equipment
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred:

• Sound knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, production processes, and quality standards
• Experience performing detailed product inspections using blueprints/specifications and precision measuring and test equipment
• Associate degree in a technical or engineering field
• 3+ years of inspection experience in aerospace, aviation, military, or manufacturing environments
• Experience with electrical systems, testing, and inspection using portable measuring devices
• Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and manufacturing compliance requirements
