Job Description

The Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) on the 2nd Shift will inspect raw material; plating; work in process including cut lengths, facing, threading, and stamps; finished goods; and purchased material to determine if the product meets the established standards. The inspector must be able to detect defects and determine what needs to be done to correct the defect. They also check the hardness of material including taps, grips, blades, and pipe. If the product does not meet specifications, they determine if the material should be scrapped or salvaged.

The inspector serves as a backup to the Quality Lead in calibrating various equipment such as thread gages, master gages, taper gages, lead gages, dial calipers, dial indicators, depth micrometers, Jo blocks, and inside/outside diameter masters. This includes training in the Gage Pack system and handling the sending and receiving of master gages for offsite calibration. They must document all inspections and maintain accurate records, filling out reports including Customer Complaint or Return (CCR), Corrective Action Report (CAR), Internal Corrective Action Report (ICAR), inspection, daily inspection, plating, raw material, and defective material.
