Job summary

Brunel is recruiting a QA/QC Inspector to support the construction of large-scale renewable energy projects across Texas. This field-based role inspects solar PV and BESS installations, verifies workmanship, and identifies non-conformances to project drawings and standards.

The position collaborates with project QA/QC leadership, EPCs, subcontractors, and vendors through construction, testing, commissioning, and COD, ensuring quality meets requirements and safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
• 3–5 years of QA/QC experience within solar, electrical, power, or industrial construction.
• Utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS construction experience strongly preferred.
• Hands-on field inspection experience in active construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Experience with NCRs/non-conformances, corrective actions, punch lists, inspection records, and ITPs.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, UL, ASTM, and ISO standards.
• OSHA 10-hour certification required; OSHA 30-hour preferred.
• NABCEP, AWS, ICC or other relevant certifications are a plus.
• Experience with Procore or similar construction/project quality management software preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, field-based construction environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily field inspections across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical construction activities.
• Inspect the installation of solar modules, racking systems, trackers, inverters, transformers, BESS equipment, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Verify construction activities against engineering drawings, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, installation standards, and applicable codes.
• Identify and document quality issues, non-conformances, and deviations from approved project requirements.
• Coordinate corrective actions with construction teams, EPC contractors, and subcontractors.
• Prepare field observation reports and punch-list items for review by senior QA/QC personnel.
• Witness and verify electrical testing activities, including grounding, insulation resistance, and other required performance and acceptance testing.
• Verify test results and supporting quality documentation meet project requirements and final acceptance criteria.
• Support punch-list management and closeout through completion and COD.

About the Opportunity

Brunel is recruiting a QA/QC Inspector to support the construction of large-scale renewable energy projects across Texas.

This is a field-based, project-focused position supporting utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developments. The QA/QC Inspector will be responsible for performing field inspections, verifying construction quality and workmanship, identifying non-conformances, and ensuring installations comply with project drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable industry standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with project QA/QC leadership, EPC contractors, subcontractors, construction teams, and vendors throughout construction, testing, commissioning, and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Field Quality Inspections

• Conduct daily field inspections across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical construction activities.
• Inspect the installation of solar modules, racking systems, trackers, inverters, transformers, BESS equipment, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Verify construction activities against engineering drawings, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, installation standards, and applicable codes.

• Review construction drawings, specifications, project quality requirements, and manufacturer documentation.
• Support the implementation of project inspection protocols and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Review contractor QC documentation, inspection records, installation checklists, and material certifications.
• Coordinate inspection activities and hold points with EPC contractors and subcontractors.
• Participate in pre-construction, quality, progress, and coordination meetings as required.
• Promote a proactive quality culture across project teams and contractors.
• Witness and verify electrical testing activities, including grounding, insulation resistance, and other required performance and acceptance testing.
• Verify that test results and supporting quality documentation meet project requirements and final acceptance criteria.
• Support punch-list management and closeout activities through mechanical completion, substantial completion, commissioning, and Commercial Operation Date (COD).

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate inspection logs, field reports, photographic documentation, and quality records.
• Track material certifications, delivery documentation, installation records, and inspection checklists.
• Document non-conformances and support corrective action tracking and closeout.
• Provide regular quality updates to project management and QA/QC leadership.
• Maintain organized and complete project quality documentation throughout construction and commissioning.

Safety & Site Coordination

• Follow all project safety requirements, PPE standards, and applicable site regulations.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices observed during field activities.
• Coordinate effectively with EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel in an active construction environment.

• Utility-scale Solar PV projects ranging from approximately 100 MW to 500+ MWdc
• Battery Energy Storage Systems ranging from approximately 50 MW to 300+ MWac
• Substations and collector systems
• High-voltage interconnections

Working Conditions

This is a field-based, project-driven position requiring travel to project sites across Texas. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and within active construction environments.

The position may require extended working hours and occasional weekend work during critical construction, testing, commissioning, and project completion periods.

Required PPE and all project safety protocols must be followed at all times.
