Job summary

Apex Tactical Specialties, Inc. seeks a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our production team. You will evaluate parts for technical accuracy and finish, performing visual, mechanical, and optical measurements and reviewing part drawings to verify requirements.

You will document results, interact with machinists and shop staff, and may collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager to improve processes. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of OMM or CMM measuring machines or willingness to learn.
• Comfortable interacting across departments and with shop staff.
• Experience with technical documentation.
• Basic use of calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming and in-house parts using proper measuring devices.
• Perform visual, mechanical, and OMM inspections on parts.
• Conduct First Article inspection as directed by QA Engineer.
• Coordinate with machinists on pass/fail results and re-work recommendations.
• Record observations and suggest process improvements to QA Engineer.
• Maintain neat and accurate records and QC documents.

Job Title: Quality Assurance Inspector

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday10-hour days with start time 6am

As part of our production team, the QCDepartment ensures the highest quality products for Apex customers throughproper quality assurance inspection methods.

In our QA Inspector role, you willevaluate parts for technical accuracy and quality of finish. QC evaluationincludes visual inspection, mechanical inspection using measuring tools such ascalipers and gauges, and technical measurement with an optical measuringmachine (“OMM”). Part drawings provide technical requirements, and our QCEngineer provides the QA evaluation process for each part. You will follow theQA evaluation process and read the part drawing to understand the areas on eachpart to evaluate. Documentation of evaluation results is completed with formsand our online tracker spreadsheet. Interaction with machinists and other shoppersonnel, as well as the Manufacturing Manager and Chief Operating Officer,may be required to complete your evaluation.

A successful QA Inspector will havegood attention for detail, understand the QC process and part drawings to guidetheir evaluation and apply critical thinking skills to determine pass and failparts.

Responsibilities andEssential Duties:

• Inspects incoming and in-housemanufactured parts using proper measuring devices.
• Performs testing of incoming andin-house parts using appropriate testing machines/devices for visual,mechanical and OMM inspections.
• Performs First Article inspection asdirected by Quality Control Engineer.
• Secondary authority for parts to bedetermined for scrap.
• Corresponds with Quality ControlEngineer regarding out of spec and damaged parts.
• Works directly with Machinistsregarding pass/fail results and recommended re-work on in-house manufacturedparts.
• Records observations and may make recommendationsto Quality Engineer for improving processes.
• Maintains neat and accurate records,test samples, QC documents of results of measurements and coordinatesrecordkeeping with QC Inspector Level 1.
• Follows Department processes &procedures.
• Availability to work Overtime asneeded.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of OMM or CMMmeasuring machines and/or willingness to learn.
• Comfortable managing challenging inter-departmentteam interactions.
• Experience with technicaldocumentation.
• Basic knowledge and use ofcalipers and micrometers.
