Job summary

Job Title

Quality Assurance Engineer III

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of the design, development, and implementation of quality systems and processes, creation and management of documentation and support drawings through the application of professionally accepted quality engineering principles and techniques.
  • Independently represents CoorsTek with customers on technical matters across multiple markets and product offerings.
  • Mentors early- and mid-career quality engineers through one‑on‑one interactions, lectures, seminars, and classes.
  • Provides expert technical evaluation of external quality technologies, advising senior management on development of quality engineering, business processes, quality business systems, and key customer quality relationships.
  • Advises management in the creation of quality roadmaps to capture new business opportunities and develop long‑term global strategy.
  • Chooses and executes exploratory projects to develop innovative solutions for the company.
  • Applies accepted quality engineering principles while completing assigned tasks efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Interprets customer and company technical drawings for sales and manufacturing departments to ensure products are manufactured in accordance with quality specifications and suggests modifications to improve the manufacturing process.
  • Develops and maintains complete and accurate written records such as First Article Reports and process documentation for new products and/or processes or improvements to existing ones.
  • Coordinates projects and quality engineering efforts across multiple product categories, processes, or sites as needed.
  • Interacts with customers and suppliers to clarify points, research material, and investigate improvements to current and future processes.
  • Functions in conjunction with sales personnel, interacting directly with customers in the development of new products and in communicating capabilities while providing solutions to current production issues.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of quality engineering work as part of major projects or projects of moderate scope.
  • Works on assignments that routinely include QMS design and development, structured problem solving, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, and report preparation.
  • Provides training and cross‑training in structured problem solving, SPC, PCS, equipment, software, and process operations.
  • Supervises lower‑level engineers or technicians via a matrix as a direct supervisor or in a defined project environment.
  • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.
  • Works any and all shifts and days as required.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Physical Science, or Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related Physical Science with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physical Science, or Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform detail‑oriented tasks utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills, intermediate math, and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in job‑related software and understanding of computer programs, applications, and databases.
  • Proficiency in technical drawing interpretation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing/quality techniques and thorough knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency with Quality Management systems, quality engineering (ASQ certification preferred), and project management.
  • Detailed understanding of machining processes and associated manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Compensation

Target hiring range: USD 103,040.00 – USD 136,013.00. Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, and education.
