Job summary

Entarian is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) & Software Test Engineer to support NAVSUP OIS Next Gen, providing expertise to ensure reliable, functional, and user-friendly software. You will design and execute test cases, identify defects, and collaborate with developers and product teams to improve the software development lifecycle.

This role can be remote but may require travel to customer sites in Mechanicsburg, PA, and/or Yorktown, VA (up to 10%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years' experience and 5+ years in software testing.
• Experience performing manual software testing in an Agile or Scrum environment.
• Experience writing and executing test cases; SQL/database validation.
• Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, usability, and exploratory testing.
• Experience using defect-tracking or test-management tools (GitLab).

Responsibilities

• Review business requirements, user stories, and technical specifications.
• Create detailed test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and checklists.
• Execute manual functional, regression, integration, system, 508 and user acceptance testing.
• Test web, mobile, and/or desktop applications across supported environments.
• Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects using GitLab.
• Clearly communicate defects, risks, test results, and release readiness.
• Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing after changes are implemented.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product managers, and other QA professionals.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to improving QA processes, standards, and documentation.
• Support production validation and post-release testing when needed.

Quality Assurance and Software Test Engineer

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Entarian is looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) & Software Test Engineer to support the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Ordnance Information System (OIS) to provide technical expertise on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop, modernize, enhance, operate, and maintain services for OIS mission critical systems.

In this role, you will help ensure the NAVSUP OIS Next Gen application is reliable, functional, and user-friendly. The ideal candidate will design and execute test cases, identify and document defects, collaborate with developers and product teams, and contribute to continuous improvements in the software development lifecycle.

This position can be remote but may require travel to customer sites in Mechanicsburg, PA, and/or Yorktown, VA. (Up to 10% travel)

The salary range for this positon is $75,000 - $110,000/year.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have DOD Secret level clearance to start; U.S. Citizen required only for Federal Clearance Requirement
• Certification Requirement: Directive 8570.1/8140 - IAT II: Security+ (must have certificate to start)
• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent years' experience) and 5+ years of prior relevant experience
• Experience performing manual software testing in an Agile or Scrum environment.
• Understanding of software development and testing life cycles.
• Experience writing and executing test cases.
• Experience performing SQL and database validation.
• Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, usability, and exploratory testing techniques.
• Experience using defect-tracking or test-management tools, such as GitLab.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into test scenarios.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with 508 Compliance testing highly preferred.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Postman highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) X12
• Prior Military, preferably Navy, experience is a plus
• Knowledgeable of Navy Ordnance Information Systems.
• Experience testing web-based, mobile, or enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with tools such as GitLab Ultimate, Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of browser developer tools and cross-browser testing.
• Experience working with CI/CD processes or automated testing teams.
• ISTQB or other software testing certification.
