Job summary

Michigan Farm Bureau seeks a Quality Assurance and Automation Analyst to ensure the quality, feasibility, and reliability of software used by internal and external customers. You will define testing requirements, develop test plans, and support testing initiatives while designing automated testing frameworks and scripts.

The role requires two years of testing or development experience, familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile/Waterfall), and skills in use case modeling and QA principles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business technology, computer science, software engineering, or business administration required, or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum two years of application/software testing or software development experience required, or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) required.
  • Experience in use case modeling and process modeling techniques required.
  • Strong information technology skills, understanding of software development lifecycle and QA principals required.
  • Current knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, program language(s) and tools, testing techniques and tools, and program specification and interpretation required.
  • Working knowledge of systems design, testing, analysis tools and techniques required.
  • Ability to develop and execute manual and automated testing strategies, testing plans, and test cases required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form in a clear and concise manner through various formats required.
  • Willingness to participate in software quality assurance and insurance training classes required.

Job description

Quality Assurance and Automation Analyst

To be responsible for the quality, technical feasibility, and reliability of software and systems that are utilized by internal and external customers. To provide quality assurance expertise and direction on the functionality and usability of software and systems. To work closely with business analysts, software developers, and customers to understand business requirements. To define testing requirements, develop test plans, and support testing initiatives. To design, develop, test, execute, and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts. To execute defect management, providing feedback, reporting defects, and projecting timelines for completion.

Participate in requirements gathering sessions, providing constructive feedback on testability from an assurance perspective, ensuring technical feasibility and quality releases. Review and comprehend requirements, specifications, and technical design documents.

Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive and well-structured test strategies, test plans, test cases. Effectively analyze software and system components, yielding constructive feedback to identify discrepancies, defects, risks, and improvement areas.

Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track defects in an informative manner to assist in decision making. Manage and monitor defects during debugging process. Perform thorough regression once defects are resolved. Participate in triaging of defects, providing insight to drive decisions and estimates of timeframes needed to complete tasks.

Required

Bachelor's degree in business technology, computer science, software engineering, or business administration required, or equivalent experience may be considered. Coursework in quality assurance required.

Minimum two years of application/software testing or software development experience required, or equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, and associated development/testing processes (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, etc.) required.

Experience in use case modeling and process modeling techniques required.

Strong information technology skills, understanding of software development lifecycle and quality assurance principals required.

Current knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, program language(s) and tools, testing techniques and tools, and program specification and interpretation required.

Working knowledge of systems design, testing, analysis tools and techniques required.

Ability to develop and execute manual and automated testing strategies, testing plans, and test cases required.

Willingness to participate in software quality assurance and insurance training classes required.

Preferred

Experience in insurance domain preferred.

Experience in technologies such as SQL, XML, scripting languages (Java, JavaScript, etc.), and automation preferred.

Certification in quality assurance or testing methodologies preferred.

Note: A Quality Assurance Analyst position may be considered based on the level of experience and qualifications.
