Job summary

Capital Steel & Wire in Mason, MI seeks a Quality Associate to perform quality and process improvement functions under the Quality Manager. This full-time, non-exempt role requires collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure quality across processes and products.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, be proficient with Excel/Word, understand ISO/PPAP concepts, and be able to travel locally to company facilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; higher education preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing and quality processes preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, Internet and database apps.
  • Valid Michigan driver license and ability to be covered on company auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Execute quality control processes company-wide under management.
  • Coordinate PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Assist with ISO processes, documentation, audits, and certifications.
  • Support data gathering on quality issues and material handling.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects across processes.
  • Develop and evaluate data on production processes.
  • Provide quality training and assessments with manufacturing teams.
  • Assist with inventory disposition for non-conforming material.
  • Travel to company facilities as needed to perform duties.
  • Lead quality issues as assigned.

Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing quality and process improvement functions and executing department projects, under the direction of the Quality Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Execute quality control processes company-wide, under the direction of management.
  • Responsible for all gage tools including processes, tracking, calibration, training, procurement, records, annual, initial set-up, and Plex.
  • Coordinate and perform PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Assist with all preparations for ISO (International Standards Organization) processes, documentation, audits, and certifications.
  • Assist with quality related work requests and gathering of data pertaining to quality issues, including physical handling of material
  • Handle continuous improvement projects related to all processes (physical, written, Plex).
  • Develop, collect and evaluate data on production processes for all aspects of production.
  • Works with manufacturing team members on all shifts, as needed, to conduct quality-related training and assessments.
  • Provide support of inventory disposition for non-conforming material and ensuring tagged accordingly.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Quality Control Hold Area, including occasional material movement with fork truck and overhead crane.
  • Complete customer survey requests.
  • Verify & update heat specifications changes in Plex.
  • Responsible for traveling to all company facilities, when necessary, in order to effectively execute job functions; works full shifts at various company facilities, based on business need.
  • Assist with managing problem logs, in addition to leading carrier claims.
  • Lead quality issues as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; higher education preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing and quality processes strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, Internet applications, and database applications strongly preferred.
  • Valid Michigan driver license and ability to be covered on company auto insurance (based on driving record)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to machinery and loud noises
  • Extensive local travel and occasional regional travel required for company business.
