QA SYSTEMS COORDINATOR
Provide day-to-day support services for the paper web inspection camera systems used at the Covington Mill. Work with quality assurance, production, technical sales service, and the maintenance and engineering departments on projects related to process capability, continuing process improvement, customer satisfaction, and camera/inspection equipment reliability. Additionally, in this role, the candidate will assume some duties of both internal and external audits.
Responsibilities
- Actively promotes safety and environmental compliance.
- Responsible for cleaning web inspection equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance on web inspection equipment.
- Responsible for monitoring and resolving web inspection software system.
- Work with cross-functional maintenance team to ensure overall equipment reliability, participating in equipment care, preventive and corrective maintenance on the hardware and software that comprise Covington’s Web Inspection camera system. Assists with outage planning and support.
- Provide management with information on quality and operating parameters to assist in process control and detection of trends.
- Lead or participate in process improvement teams to identify problems, retrieve and evaluate data, make recommendations, and assist in implementing approved changes to improve quality, cost, and/or throughput.
- Communicate and perform appropriate planning with Quality Management, Process Control, Web Inspection vendors, other key stakeholders, and mill leadership team to provide information, updates, and prevent project delays or meet key goals and objectives.
- Assist with the design and implementation of new web inspection equipment, hardware and software packages to improve quality, production, productivity and operations of Covington Mill.
- Work independently and in conjunction with internal/external customers and stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, maintenance, vendor personnel, to optimize camera tuning through reliable defect classification, SQC, and thresholding.
- Provide camera system expertise and be responsible for mill-related training for a variety of users (e.g. inspectors, operators, leadership, etc.).
- Obtains / maintains professional competence and knowledge in web inspection camera systems, related industry, and technologies.
- Manages the bacteria sampling program within quality assurance to meet ASEGA, ISO requirements.
- Assists with internal and external audits.
- Assist with distribution of COA’s and working knowledge of OptiVision or any other quality management system.
- Works within the quality assurance technical supervisory staff, providing a key role that supports the mill customer satisfaction goals and objectives.
What you need to succeed
- Preferred: A minimum of 2 years’ technical, computer, industrial or engineering degree disciplines preferred or similar work experience with demonstrated skills will be considered.
- Preferred: 5+ years of industrial paper manufacturing experience desired, especially working on or near the finished product. e.g. paper machines, quality assurance, IT, PCS, electronic equipment, etc.
- Strong background or interests in computer analytical software and camera systems.
- Background in any of the following systems desired. (Metso, ISYS, Cognex, Valmet, Proficy/PI, Optivision, HD/VG camera technology, and other mill systems including Maintenance and Financial systems, etc.).
- Microsoft Office Suite (includes Excel) platform skills required to analyze data, make process capability recommendations, monitor continued improvement efforts, etc. and develop / present communications to all levels of organization.

Must be willing to perform in an on-call environment, including weekend call duty rotation and outage shift work when needed.
