Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks a senior Quality Assurance professional to develop and implement program quality plans and procedures using statistical QC, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools. You will ensure that products meet established standards and regulatory requirements across multiple disciplines.

You will investigate discrepancies, develop corrective actions, and collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, customers, and suppliers to drive quality

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of relevant exempt experience or a Master’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalents to Bachelor's Degree include NNS Apprentice School, NNPS graduate, or 2-year + 4-year mix of experience.
• Other routes include Military Paygrade E-5+ or high school/GED with manufacturing/shipbuilding experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement program quality plans, procedures, and controls using statistical QC, lean concepts, and six-sigma tools.
• Ensure performance and quality products conform to company and regulatory standards.
• Review, analyze, and report on quality discrepancies across assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
• Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
• Recommend corrective actions, dispositions, and modifications to improve quality.

The Role

Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses. Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met. Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
