Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a quality professional to develop and implement program quality plans using statistical quality control, lean concepts, and six-sigma tools.

You will review discrepancies across assembly, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems, coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers, and recommend corrective actions for continuous improvement.

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years exempt experience required; Master’s degree with 1 year relevant experience also accepted.

• Develop and implement program quality plans, programs and procedures using SPC, lean concepts and six-sigma tools.
• Ensure performance and quality products conform to standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review, analyze and report quality discrepancies across assembly, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Investigate problems and develop dispositions and corrective actions for recurring issues.
• Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

The Role

Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses. Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met. Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
