Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in Yarmouth, Maine is seeking a full-time Quality Analyst 1 to provide leadership of QA activities for complex features within Garmin products and software. Our team supports live systems in a continuous development environment.

You will design test plans, analyze results, and coordinate with engineering to ensure quality from planning through release. Must reside in Maine and be able to work onsite.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or 2 years of equivalent education/experience.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher as general guideline.
  • Relevant QA processes and methodologies experience or training.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and independent work skills.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead QA activities for complex Garmin features and software.
  • Design test plans, scenarios, and scripts of simple-to-moderate complexity.
  • Document defects and work with engineering to resolve issues.
  • Collect and analyze test results and beta feedback when applicable.
  • Verify software modifications in new versions prior to release.
  • Participate in process improvements and release coordination.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full-timeQuality Analyst 1 in our Yarmouth, ME location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership of quality assurance activities for complex features within Garmin products and software. Our team focuses on backend services spanning all Garmin segments. We support live systems in a continuous development environment.

Must live in Maine to be considered.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of quality assurance principles/methodologies and knowledge of Garmin product specifications, capabilities and operation related to the market segment being supported
  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, and/or procedures of simple-to-moderate complexity, in accordance with established Garmin test procedures - including analysis, review and tracing of requirements as necessary
  • Serve as the voice of the customer in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems
  • Document defects in defect management system and report defects to developers and work closely with engineering to assist in problem resolution
  • Collect and analyze test results and beta user feedback (when applicable)
  • Communicate product and/or project status to internal customers and product owners
  • Investigate and verify issues reported to quality assurance for validity and reproducibility
  • Verify software modifications in new software versions to prepare for implementation
  • Assist in test case maintenance as necessary to keep repository current
  • Participate in the definition and documentation of process improvements
  • Train and mentor new quality assurance associates
  • Participate and assist with the coordination of release deployments
  • Perform system analysis techniques and procedures to determine software functional specifications for Garmin products
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate’s DegreeORa minimum of 2 years equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Relevant experience or training in product and/or software quality assurance processes and methodologies
  • Must possess superior organizational/analytical skills, be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, can work independently with minimal supervision, and can exercise sound independent judgment
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Previous experience developing and executing tests related to a Garmin core product market
  • Relevant experience or training in creating test plans, conducting usability tests and/or writing test scripts is preferred
