Job summary

ANDRITZ in Arlington, TX is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform dimensional and compliance inspections on materials, welds, and finished machines. You will read drawings in inch and metric, verify tolerances, and maintain inspection records.

You will manage NCRs, coordinate calibration control, and support 5S and ISO 9001 compliance while collaborating with Engineering and Production to drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

  • Technical education in quality, mechanical, manufacturing or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years minimum quality inspection experience in machining, fabrication or manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings in inch and metric systems.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection practices.
  • Understanding of calibration systems and traceability.
  • Knowledge of 5S methodology.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections to verify tolerances and geometric requirements.
  • Conduct welding and painting inspections; perform PT as required.
  • Open, document, and close NCRs with objective evidence.
  • Manage calibration tools and ensure traceable records.
  • Support 5S initiatives and comply with QMS and safety procedures.
  • Assist root cause analysis and CAPA implementation to improve quality.

Job description

Brief Description

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing focus in receiving, support in-process, and final inspections to ensure that materials, components, welding, painting, and finished machines comply with company standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications. The inspector must be capable of interpreting technical drawings in both inch and metric systems, performing dye penetrant testing, controlling and following up on nonconforming materials, contributing to 5S initiatives, monitoring calibration status of inspection instruments, maintain compliance with ISO standards, control Non conformities. Develop ITP, Control/Perform external inspection for dropships

Key Responsibilities
2. Dimensional Inspection
  • Interpret and review technical drawings (inch and metric systems).
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments including: (Calipers, Internal and external micrometers, Measuring tapes, PI tape, Durometer (hardness testing), Profilometers, thread gauges, indicators and other calibrated inspection instruments).
  • Ensure compliance with tolerances and geometric requirements.
  • Verify calibration status of inspection tools before use.
  • Develop and utilize specific dimensional inspection forms/templates to record measurement results when required.
  • Ensure dimensional reports are accurate, traceable, and properly maintained as quality records.
  • Communicate dimensional deviations to Engineering and Production when necessary.
  • Control/perform external inspection for dropship.
3. Welding and Painting Inspection
  • Perform visual inspection of welds in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications.
  • Verify weld size, profile, workmanship, and surface condition.
  • Conduct Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) as required.
  • Inspect surface preparation and painting quality (visual and thickness checks).
  • Ensure proper documentation of inspection results and NDE reports.
4. Nonconformance Management
  • Open, document, and close Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Clearly document findings and objective evidence.
  • Ensure nonconforming products are identified, segregated, and controlled according to company procedures.
  • Follow up on nonconformities to ensure proper disposition, corrective actions, and effective closure.
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor NCR status and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support KPIS ( IMS Objectives )
  • Use systematic problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Pareto analysis)
  • Support development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
5. Managing Calibration Tools
  • Control calibration of the measurement tools. Calibrate dates and Certificate control.
  • Send instruments to calibration company.
6. Compliance, 5S, and Maintenance Support
  • Follow company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure activities are performed in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Support implementation and sustainment of 5S initiatives in the inspection area.
  • Proactively suggest process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications (Required)
