The Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional functions as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing professional services to mentally ill and/or mentally disabled prisoners within the Michigan Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include mental health evaluations, referrals, monitoring progress, and ensuring continuity of care. They conduct psychosocial assessments, interventions, and consultations, and assist with community discharge services.
Knowledge of mental health counseling, assessments, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and related techniques. Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, make clinical judgments, communicate effectively, develop therapeutic relationships, and maintain records.
