Job summary

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. is seeking a Community-Based Child and Family Counselor (QMHP-C) to deliver direct clinical services to youth and families in homes, schools, and community settings in Roanoke, Virginia.

Responsibilities include creating individualized services plans, documenting care, and coordinating with caregivers and providers. Requires Virginia QMHP-C, a bachelor’s in Human Services, and 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field is required.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience working with children/adolescents, or an equivalent combination of education and supervised experience as defined by DBHDS.
  • Active QMHP-C registration or eligibility in Virginia is required.
  • Experience providing services to children and families in a clinical or community-based setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and engagement skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with EHR is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance are required.

Job description

Summary of Position: Community-Based Child and Family Counselor (QMHP-C) is responsible for providing direct clinical services to youth and their families in home, school, and community settings. This role focuses on delivering individualized, strength-based interventions using a comprehensive wraparound approach that actively engages both youth and their caregivers.

  • Initiate, organize, plan, and implement individualized clinical interventions for assigned youth and families.

  • Provide services in community-based settings, including homes, schools, and other natural environments.
  • Collaborate with families, stakeholders, and service providers to support treatment goals.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Support youth and families in building skills and accessing resources across educational, social, and behavioral domains.

Services are delivered in the community - this is not an office-based role.

Flexible scheduling with hours that may include evenings and weekends, depending on participant needs.

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field (required)
  • Must meet Virginia QMHP-C criteria, including:

    • Equivalent combination of education and supervised experience as defined by DBHDS
