Job summary

Wellpath is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) in Indianapolis to support medication administration under RN supervision. You will ensure accurate MAR documentation, maintain patient safety, and adhere to HIPAA regulations while supporting the healthcare team.

This role emphasizes infection control, proper storage of pharmaceuticals, and compliance with facility policies as part of a compassionate, patient-focused care environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in a medical environment is preferred.
• QMAP training and competency evaluation completed per program requirements.
• Current CPR certification and QMAP ID number for online verification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer prescribed medications under RN supervision, ensuring compliance with facility policies.
• Document medication administration accurately on MAR, including non-administered meds and reasons.
• Adhere to infection control techniques and six rights of medication administration.
• Participate in data collection, medication audits, and performance improvement activities; report adverse reactions.

How You Make A Difference

As a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), you'll play a crucial role in assisting with medication administration, inventory management, and the safe storage of pharmaceutical items. Working under close supervision, you'll ensure adherence to protocols and procedures while maintaining accurate records. Your attention to detail and commitment to patient safety will be paramount in supporting the healthcare team's efforts in delivering quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer prescribed medications under RN supervision, ensuring compliance with Facility policies, Pharmacy Board regulations, and safety principles.
• Document medication administration accurately on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), including any medications not administered and reasons for non-administration.
• Adhere to infection control techniques, incorporate universal precautions, and uphold the six rights of medication administration.
• Participate in data collection, medication audits, and performance improvement activities, promptly reporting adverse reactions to supervisors.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the medication cart, reorder and replace medications and supplies as needed, and uphold patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience

• One (1) year related experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Completed QMAP training and passed competency evaluation in accordance with program requirements.

Licenses/Certifications

• Must have current CPR Certification and provide QMAP ID number for online verification.
