Job summary

GradePower Learning Chesapeake in Virginia is seeking a part-time elementary teacher/tutor to support students after school. Lessons are pre-planned and you will be trained in our methods.

You will work in-person with up to three students, following GradePower Learning methodologies, and provide daily updates on student progress. A background in education or tutoring is preferred, with strong English communication and reliable commute.

Part-Time Elementary Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Eager to help elementary and middle school students succeed in all subjects?

We are currently seeking part-time tutors for a role in our learning center at GradePower Learning Chesapeake. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language, math, among other subjects, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Tutors at GradePower Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements:

All Tutors at GradePower Learning work during after-school hours; additionally, Saturday morning and early afternoon availability is preferred. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. A background check is mandatory.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered

Experience:

• Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to 8th grade level(or equivalent)
• Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

• Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Teaching in-person
• Following the GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Completing daily student communication updates
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $19 - $21 / hour based on previous experience and education

Schedule:

• Monday to Thursday 3:30pm - 7:00pm
