Cleveland Electric Laboratories is a century-old leader in industrial sensor and temperature control manufacturing, specializing in high-temperature sensing technology for demanding industrial applications where precision and reliability matter most. CEL is proud to be recognized as one of Northeast Ohio’s Top Workplaces, reflecting our commitment to fostering a positive culture, supporting employee growth, and creating an environment where our team can thrive.

Position Summary

CEL is seeking an experienced QMS Manager to lead, maintain, and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System across its manufacturing, calibration, certification, and service operations.

The QMS Manager will be responsible for ensuring that CEL's quality systems remain effective, compliant, and aligned with customer and industry requirements, including ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ANSI/NCSL Z540, applicable A2LA requirements, and relevant customer, regulatory, ASTM, and aerospace requirements.

This position will serve as a key resource for quality across the organization, partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Calibration, Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to prevent defects, improve processes, resolve nonconformances, and strengthen customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on quality professional who understands both manufacturing quality systems and laboratory/metrology environments and can translate quality requirements into practical processes that improve performance without unnecessarily burdening the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and continuously improve CEL's integrated Quality Management System.
  • Ensure QMS processes remain compliant with applicable requirements of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, A2LA requirements, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and other controlled documentation.
  • Manage the document and record-control processes to ensure current, approved information is available.
  • Monitor changes to applicable standards and customer requirements and coordinate implementation of necessary changes.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus throughout the organization.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in internal quality audits.
  • Prepare the organization for external certification, surveillance, accreditation, and customer audits.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact during quality-system audits and assessments.
  • Track audit findings, observations, corrective actions, and closure.
  • Ensure objective evidence is maintained to demonstrate compliance and effective implementation of the QMS.
  • Identify systemic risks and opportunities for improvement through audit results, process performance, and quality data.
  • Manage the nonconformance and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Lead root-cause analysis using appropriate problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ensure containment, root cause, corrective action, and effectiveness verification are appropriately documented and completed.
  • Analyze recurring quality issues and identify opportunities for systemic corrective action.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering and Manufacturing to prevent recurrence of defects.
  • Support customer complaint investigations and responses.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to establish and improve quality controls throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support inspection, testing, material verification, process controls, and final product acceptance activities.
  • Ensure quality requirements are appropriately incorporated into manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Monitor product and process quality metrics and identify trends requiring action.
  • Support first-article, inspection, testing, and customer-specific quality requirements as applicable.
  • Assist with supplier quality issues and incoming material nonconformances.
  • Support the continued effectiveness of CEL's ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration and certification laboratory.
  • Ensure measurement and calibration activities maintain appropriate traceability to recognized national/international standards.
  • Support A2LA assessments and maintenance of the laboratory's accredited scope.
  • Assist in ensuring calibration and certification processes meet applicable ASTM, AMS 2750, customer, and technical requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and report meaningful quality KPIs for nonconformance, scrap, rework, customer complaints, corrective actions, audit findings, supplier performance, and other quality indicators.
  • Use data to identify opportunities for process improvement and risk reduction.
  • Lead or facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using appropriate quality tools.
  • Present quality performance and improvement opportunities in Management Presentation.
  • Develop and deliver QMS and quality-related training.
