Job summary

Westminster Village North Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) for our Memory Care unit in Assisted Living. You will administer medications, follow physician orders, and support residents with compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) certification/licensure valid in the state.
• Ability to administer non-parenteral medications per physician orders.
• Comfort with documenting care in resident records and following care plans.

Responsibilities

• Administers non-parenteral medications and treatments per physician orders.
• Observes adverse reactions and notifies nursing leadership as required.
• Assists with admission and assessment of new residents.
• Performs PRN medications and documents outcomes.
• Monitors temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures per policy.
• Adheres to care plans, schedules, and reporting protocols.
• Responds to call lights and provides necessary care.

In This Role You Will:

1. 1. Administers non-parenteral medications and performs treatments according to written physicians’ orders and within the QMA scope of practice outlined by the state in which practicing.
2. 2. Observes and documents any adverse reactions, takes appropriate measures, including notifying the nursing supervisor and/or Director of Nursing.
3. 3. Assists with the admission and assessment of new residents.
4. 4. Administers PRN medications and performs treatments upon authorization of the nursing supervisor, and/or the director of nursing. Documents results of all PRN medications and treatments.
5. 5. Takes and records temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures in accordance with departmental policy and procedure. May perform Accuchecks once approved to perform this skill by the in-service director.
6. 6. Adheres to the resident's care plan and medication schedules, adjusts schedules as needed and notifies nursing supervisor as appropriate.
7. 7. Promptly addresses resident toileting needs and incontinence issues within state and/or federal regulations. Changes incontinent residents and rinses dirty linen before sending it to the laundry.
8. 8. Make routine rounds of assigned residents and promptly reports unusual symptoms, changes, accidents, and/or injuries to the nursing supervisor, and/or the director of nursing.
9. 9. Documents pertinent information in the resident’s medical records in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and Department of Health regulations.
10. 10. Responds to call lights in a timely manner and provides or obtains the necessary care.
11. 11. Performs restorative nursing procedures and follow-up care.
12. 12. Assists with social services and life enrichment programming, as needed.
13. 13. Performs other duties as assigned, including working as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) when assigned by the nursing supervisor and/or the director of nursing.

Full-time day shift 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - This position is for our Memory Care unit in Assisted Living.

Qualifications:

• Required: certified/licensed as a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) within the state.
