Job summary

SOPREMA USA is seeking a QHSE Manager to promote quality achievement, safety, and process improvements across the site in Georgia. You will oversee the Quality laboratory operations and manage QMS, HSE programs, supplier quality, and CAPA processes to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years in Quality and/or HSE in manufacturing, with strong leadership, data analysis, and communication skills.

  • Minimum 3 years of Quality and/or HSE experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis/reporting.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System and documentation.
  • Ensure quality of incoming materials and finished products.
  • Lead non-conformances, CAPA, and supplier quality improvements.
  • Oversee raw material supplier agreements and product release processes.
  • Lead investigations of customer complaints and drive corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support new product/process implementations.

Job description

The QHSE Manager is responsible for promoting quality achievement, performance improvement, and workplace safety throughout the organization. Manages Quality laboratory operations and quality and health and safety management programs to assure the consistent high quality of our product, compliance with legal requirements, and maximize customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Quality Management System
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System, including documentation, and performance objectives.
  • Ensure consistent quality of incoming raw materials and finished products.
  • Define and maintain inspection plans and SOPs for testing and evaluation.
  • Manage supplier quality, non-conformances, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and maintain raw material supplier agreements.
  • Oversee the release of raw materials for production and finished products for shipment.
  • Determine disposition of non-conforming materials and drive corrective actions with the production team.
  • Lead customer complaints, non-conformity investigations, and CAPA processes.
  • Monitor quality performance, drive continuous improvement, and represent the plant during audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments and support new products and process implementation.
  • Actively collaborate and support the production team including training, and production meetings.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and cost saving initiatives.
  • Quality Laboratory Management
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the quality laboratory team (training, performance, organization of work).
  • Plan, organize, and oversee all laboratory operations and testing activities.
  • Participate with Manager and Plant Manager in the preparation of the annual department budget. Monitor and control laboratory budget.
  • Perform and support special analyses as required.
  • Ensure laboratory environment is safe, clean, and compliant.
  • HSE Management System
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate HSE drills.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
  • Investigate incidents and lead corrective and preventive actions.
  • Inspect workplace conditions and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Coordinate HSE training, maintain records, and ensure SDS availability.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality and/or HSE roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis/reporting required.
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and environmental regulations.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Demands:
  • Will work in a manufacturing environment with temperature variation, high noise levels, dust, and odors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability and willingness to be available for calls or emergencies on off hours due to production being a 24/7 operation.
